They are known as ''The Jockey Bank Robber'' and ''The Dying Man'' and police say both men have threatened violence and used quirky tactics, including nudity, in their attempts to rob Broward County banks and make good their escape.

Shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday, Hollywood police rushed to the scene of a bank robbery at Republic Bank, 4651 Sheridan St., Lt. Tony Rode said.

Rode said the suspect, a man in his 30s, approached the teller and produced a note demanding money. The man, nicknamed ''The Jockey Bank Robber'' because of his short stature, lifted his shirt, displaying a handgun. After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, he fled on foot, Rode said.

Officers saw the suspect running while disrobing in The Greens of Emerald Hills, a neighborhood on 56th Avenue.

Dogs led police to the man, hiding in bushes in front of 99 Juniper Rd., Rode said. After punching a police dog, the suspect suffered multiple bites and was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital.
