A cat burglar who delighted dozens of north Brisbane residents by presenting them with hundreds of purloined items over the past year has found a new, lifelong indoor home.

  • Kylo, the Pirate Kitty, is notorious in Ferny Hills for stealing hundreds of items
  • The ginger cat's exploits have been shared on social media for months
  • Now in a new, indoor-only home, Kylo's adventures will continue in a safer environment

A new home
Just before Christmas, the Pirate Kitty's owners decided they could no longer keep their pet safely, and asked Mrs McCall to help find a new home.

In December, the Moyles welcomed the Pirate Kitty into their home.

Officially, the three-year-old cat's name was Johnny, but it did not respond to that.
Nor did the cat respond to any of the names other Ferny Hills residents had given it. Finally, the cat responded to one: Kylo.
"We're Star Wars nuts, Kylo was this angsty young male who had a red sword so it seemed obvious that we've got this angsty young male in the house," Ms Moyle said.
And while the Pirate Kitty is no longer allowed outdoors, its transition into an indoor cat of leisure has been surprisingly smooth.

What a little treasure! I'm so happy Kylo has a safe in-door home now but can still get up to a bit of mischief! :p

We had a ginger cat that was obsessed with wine. Red wine. Preferred Merlot. We got him as an older gentleman and he was a pretty calm, docile guy until he saw a wine glass. He’d leap up on the table and fight you for it. Wish we knew what went on in his prior home!

Cute story! Just what we need!!! We had a ginger girl cat growing up. We found Honey on the street as a meowing kitten. Mom told us to ask the whole block if she belongs to any homeowner. We, of course were thrilled, to report back, no one owns her. She was so calm and sweet but she had one habit. She would take marbles in her mouth from our games and steal them to play her own game of carrying them around in her mouth for long times and then dropping them one by one through the holes in the heat grate in the floor and let them ping their way through the duct work. I had a marble collection as a kid so she found plenty. She was so special.

We had a dog follow us home with lots of encouragement. A girl neighbor near us claimed it was her dog, but there were three of us and only one of her and he had a rope around his neck that he had chewed through.
