Zahra got her wings. This is on the Bakers. The property owner is left with a horrible situation. And a mess. Birthday cake? Do people think this is suddenly public property?

Yes tlcox, ITA, time to move on from the tree. I apologize if I've offended anyone, which was not my intention and thank WS for the opportunity to express my views.

Just want to throw this out there. Until you have been to the tree, prayed at the tree, and left a memento at the tree, you don't understand the love for the tree. The tree became "Zahra" in a way to us. Just because some knucklehead decided to vandalize the property doesn't mean that the "tree" should of suffered. KWIM??

And for people thinking others should donate money to charities, that is a WONDERFUL idea, but this area is so economomically depressed it isn't even funny. The area this house was in is a nice part of town, but the mourners of Zahra are just a lot of hard working folks with nothing much left than prayers, cards, their own stuffed animals and cakes.

I think it is rather an untenable situation from all sides. I feel for the home owner and all he has suffered through no fault of his own. On the other hand, I feel it was a bit early to disperse the memorial. I would have personally been more comfortable with it after arrests have been made and charges laid. However, I can't blame the owner for his concerns and just wanting this all to go away. He never asked to get dropped into the middle of this awful story. He has taken some major financial hits and I feel sorry for him.

I totally understand what you're saying, Kcsmom. I live in a very economically depressed area myself. There are many ways to help groups that work on behalf of children...money, time, energy, just helping to raise awareness of the issue so many children face is a huge help. My husband and I can very rarely afford financial donations to the causes we believe in...so, we often offer our time. Whatever people can contribute is a help. :)

Why on earth are we sluething out the finances of the landlord here?

Why are people coming dangerously close to bashing him?

Of what is he a recognized suspect?

Please, stop.

Remember to respect the privacy of bystanders.

Bumping to clarify my underlined rhetorical question. This fellow is not a suspect in this murder or any other crime that is subject to this forum. If you believe, in your opinion, he has committed moral infractions, that is, of course, your right.

However, the policy of these boards is to avoid bashing anyone, especially people who are not suspects. You can mock these policies, and myself, if you wish, but those are the standards we try to maintain here.

Feel free to criticize/debate/discuss the decision to remove the tree, but I don't want to see any abuse or insults, or accusations, flung at this guy.

That was the point of this earlier post: If you can discuss the actions without getting insulting, then you are perfectly fine.

I am grateful that the toys were donated before they became ruined. There is a much greater use for them where they are going. I am so heartened however that the locals in this area took the time to offer their condolences to this precious little girl in such a manner.

There is no question in my mind that the decision to take down the tree was a heartrending one for the owner of this property. I hope he is also receiving support during these dark days-his head must be spinning and he is entitled to take action and make a few mistakes along the way...personally I think that now it has been done there are all kinds of ways for us as outsiders to channel our energy and I love the idea of donating trees to create a park if the people of this town would welcome it.
