Thank heaven the uncareful rest of them don't shoot more of us and themselves, accidentally or on purpose.
Not directed at you, just bouncing off your post, but it seems that some (many?) of these "responsible" gun owners need to go take a basic gun safety class. Just because a gun is purchased legally, definitely doesn't mean that the person who uses/owns it is knowledgeable enough to use it responsibly.
JMO.
Most who legally own guns probably think they are responsible gun owners.

Regardless of gun politics, it is not a notable achievement to have had three shootings injuring five people at gun shows on "Gun Appreciation Day."
The man told police he was trying to dry fire, or fire the gun without a round in it. He said the gun was unloaded when he checked it earlier in the week and he didn’t know who would have loaded it. Police found another loaded gun on the man’s table and unloaded it, according to the report.

This guy is a gun dealer. What happened to "always assume the weapon is loaded" gun safety? Thank God he was smart enough not to point it at anyone other than his hand.
