To be fair, not everyone has firsthand experience with the smell of decaying bodies under one's bed.

Always check the hotel room thoroughly upon entering it - under the bed(s), the bathroom, the closet, in the dresser drawers, between the bed and the window, under the sofa (if there is one), in the fridge and stove and in the kitchen cupboards (if an efficiency unit).
