HENRY COUNTY, Tenn. (WZTV) - Middle Tennessee officers rescued a baby who was found in a dog kennel amid more than 600 animals all kept in and on the property of a single-wide trailer in Henry County, including snakes, dogs, mice, rats, chickens, roosters and more.

Heather Scarbough, 42, mother of the child, Thomas Jefferson Brown, 46, "step father" of the child, and Charles Brown, 82, TJ's dad, are all facing (multiple) felony charges.

Wow! Sick, sick, sick. Damm.

So glad the itty-bitty was found before he either died of starvation and neglect, or stayed there longer and became what might have been a near-feral child.
At his age now, he has a good chance to grow up to be a normal little boy if his diet (who knoze what they fed him -- dog food??) and "care" haven't been overwhelmingly destructive to every part of this little human being.
Yes, if guilty, IMO a cage is just what those adults need to be in right now and for the rest of their lives -- even their jailhouse meals will be better than what that precious child was fed, I'm sure.
WTH have some people become?
mini-rant over for now

I just can’t imagine the scene. :(

Unbelievable. Can't understand how 3 people can condone this way of living. Poor baby so lucky he was found. Kudos to the person who reported the animal cruelty. I wonder if they knew there was also a baby involved.

That Boa was probably hungry enough to literally eat the baby. How much snake feed and crawling bugs did this little one eat due to hunger? If you’re growing that much weed, you can afford food, diapers and childcare!!

Belew said 10-foot boa constrictor and two snakes were seen dangling above the cage. Belew said it was clear the child had been living there for some time, with an overwhelming smell of urine coming from the cage that was littered with crawling bugs.

This is just so disgusting. Three people in that “home” and they were all on board to live in such filth and ignore / be a party to the abuse and total neglect of this tiny child. I’m shocked the poor kid actually had clothes on and not just a diaper. SMH.

BBM & ETA: this is the stuff of nightmares

That was my first thought when I saw there were bugs and boas in there, that they were hoping it would eat the baby! Seriously should be attempted murder.

I know it's an extreme example, but yet again, reality shines a VERY harsh light on Fakebook.

So glad they found this poor baby, and hopefully he has a shot at a normal life with a loving family.

The pictures show a clean, healthy, happy baby. In that picture of him being found in the cage, he's standing up and he doesn't seem super neglected (if we completely ignore the fact that he was kept in a cage, that is). He was obviously abused and neglected, there's no denying that. What I'm trying to say is that this horror might have started recently.

I foster dogs here in SWFL and my latest little charge is one of these dogs. The shelter staff here stated they received 8-9 dogs. The video on YouTube is from the hoarding situation.

This little fella, Dunkirk is very sick. On Thursday, he was finally well enough to be neutered, microchipped, get his ears cleaned, his teeth cleaned and his nails trimmed. This was all done while he was under anesthesia because he is so nervous, he trembles. He has a cold and is on antibiotics. He is still a little underweight and his fur still a bit thin. He’s afraid of his leash and freezes in fear when he has to wear it.

So, when you read about, and think about this case, can you just imagine what condition, what trauma, what fears that baby boy must have been subjected to? I hope he doesn’t remember any of it. I pray he grows up never interacting with the two less than human objects that created him. They can’t possibly add anything to better his life.

May these 2 rot for what they’ve done to him and all the animals they neglected, starved, caged and tortured.

Photos: “Kirk” was sleeping right after I got him home. And in the other photo, sitting on the floor yesterday, with a little chewy hoof. He is my little shadow today and won’t let me out of his sight.

“Kirk” was adopted! He went to a home with a retired couple and has a new sister - another chihuahua mix like him. The couple had adopted the girl last year and she has a calm temperament. A good sibling fit for Kirk.
