BRISTOL, Tenn. (AP) — Hours before a black Army veteran shot 12 officers at a Black Lives Matter protest in Dallas, another former Army soldier was accused of shooting indiscriminately at passing cars and police on a Tennessee highway.

And like the Dallas sniper, Lakeem Keon Scott said he was motivated to act in response to police violence against African-Americans, authorities said Friday.

According to the TBI, the victims were:

Jennifer Rooney (A Bristol Herald Courier newspaper carrier): Deceased after being shot driving in her vehicle on Volunteer Parkway.
Deborah Watts: In serious, but stable, condition at Bristol Regional Medical Center after being shot while working at the Days Inn.
David Whitman Davis: Received minor injuries at the scene after being injured by flying glass resulting from the gunfire.
Officer Matthew Cousins: Sustained a superficial wound to the leg. Was subsequently treated and released from BRMC.

Scott was shot by police and remained in serious but stable condition late Friday at Bristol Regional Medical Center. Investigators first spoke with Scott Friday morning...

“The ongoing investigation indicates the alleged gunman acted alone,” according to the statement. “The TBI would like to reiterate there is currently no public safety threat to the Bristol community.”

The attack in Tennessee occurred hours before the killing of five police officers in Dallas on Thursday night during a protest. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says the attacker told authorities that he was frustrated by the recent killings by police of black men in Louisiana and Minnesota.
