Man indicted for child abuse against infant girl who suffered brain injury
A 20-year-old Rocky Top man was being held in the Anderson County jail Friday on $100,000 bond stemming from an indictment on child abuse charges stemming from the injuries of an infant girl.
Cameron Tommy Beard, 20, Rocky Top, was indicted by an Anderson County grand jury on charges of aggravated child abuse and neglect to a child less than 8 years of age and two counts of child abuse to a child less than 8, according to Anderson County District Attorney General Dave Clark.
Emergency services were requested for an “unresponsive infant” on Old Lake City Highway in Anderson County on March 28, Clark stated in a news release issued Friday. The infant was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville and deputies found Beard at the home. The infant was later transferred to East Tennessee Children’s Hospital in Knoxville for treatment of her brain injury.
In response to a question, Clark confirmed in an email that the child is still living.
