Body found in burning vehicle at county board of education in Tenn.

A body was found inside of a burning vehicle Saturday morning in the parking lot of the Sumner County Board of Education.

Officers with the Gallatin Police Department were assisting the fire department around 1:30 a.m. with a vehicle fire on Kraft Street.

When the fire was extinguished, police said an unidentified body was discovered inside of the vehicle.

The TBI will assist in the investigation.

Someone drove or pushed the vehicle onto the steps?

Morgan Stocks was just 22 years old when she was found after crews got called to a car fire in the parking lot of the Sumner County Board of Education.

Gallatin Police have not ruled the case a homicide, but those close to Stocks are convinced it wasn't an accident or suicide.

Her son Tripp just turned one. She also had a stepdaughter, Braelynn, through her husband Drew. The two just got married in March.

Stocks reportedly had no ties to the Sumner County Board of Education, where she was found.

The case is now being investigated by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

How odd!!

Morgan's Facebook has already been converted into a "remembering" site. Morgan Stocks

ETA: She posted recently about someone "creeping" on her. Sounds like she could have had an enemy. Wonder what the story was of how she and her husband got together. Is there a jilted ex?

Is it possible she was driving and had a medical event? I admit what little info there is sounds sketch- but stranger things have happened.

Foul play not ruled out in death

From the article...

"According to the medical examiner's report... there was no trauma involved... Stocks apparently died from smoke inhalation. A toxicology report ... is pending.

...Gallatin Police Chief Donald Bandy confirmed that foul play has not been ruled out ...

...The vehicle itself was in low gear at the time the body was discovered."

Marking my spot.

Anytime someone is found dead in a burning vehicle, I would think it would raise suspicions.

Agreed- but it was in a very public place and in gear. And the 'family member' has never returned - so I am still on the medical event side of the fence.

Also- in broad daylight.

How do I report a deceased person or an account on Facebook that needs to be memorialized? | Facebook Help Center | Facebook

"... If Facebook is made aware that a person has passed away, it's our policy to memorialize the account. Learn more about what happens to a memorialized account . Please keep in mind that we can't provide login information …"

So the change on FB may have been made by FB itself. They do this so that no one can corrupt the deceased person's page.

Also, the PD is sometimes aggressive and closed like that to absolutely everyone including family because they never know who might have been involved in a crime. Truth is often strange. Your family should get advice from an attorney if needed, it's worth a one hour consult fee. Write your questions/concerns down on paper before you meet with one so the conversation stays focused.

I'm sorry for your loss and hope you find the answers you seek.

This is so tragic. My heart goes out to her family, loved ones, and friends.

I'm wondering if there isn't surveillance video of the moments prior to the fire. In this day and age, I would expect so.

Also, shouldn't they be able to tell what caused the vehicle to burst into flames? I'm not sure, but even if the gas tank was ruptured wouldn't there have to be a spark from somewhere to cause the fire?

From Google maps, it appears there should have been sufficient lighting to allow Morgan to see she was approaching stairs.

I'm not sure if I've got the location right, but here is my attempt at marking it on Google maps:

Also, a still from the YouTube video posted on page 1--specifically to show the stairs.
