Tennessee woman turns herself in for hit-and-run crash that killed rookie cop | Daily Mail Online
A Tennessee woman accused of killing a rookie police officer in a hit-and-run crash that landed her on the state's Top 10 Most Wanted list has turned herself in to authorities.
Police launched a manhunt for 54-year-old Janet Elaine Hinds after she allegedly struck and killed 38-year-old officer Nicholas Galinger on Saturday night in Chattanooga.
Galinger, who graduated from the police academy last month, had gotten out of his patrol vehicle to inspect a manhole cover amid rainy conditions when Hinds' Honda CRV hit and fatally wounded him.
Hinds, of Hixson, is facing nine charges including vehicular homicide.
She appeared at a hearing on Monday morning where her bond was set at $300,000.
