Missing Tennessee teen turns up dead, 63-year-old man faces murder rap

Charles Carter was charged with murder and abuse of a corpse after missing 15-year-old teen Olivia Daryl Taylor turned up dead Thursday, Tennessee officials announced.

A Tennessee man has been charged with the murder of a 15-year-old teenager who went missing last week, official announced Monday.

Charles "Chuck" Carter, 63, was charged with second-degree murder and abuse of a corpse in the death of Olivia Daryl Taylor, Putnam County Sheriff's Office said Monday in a press release.

Taylor's parents reported her missing Wednesday at about 7 p.m. – the same evening that Carter was first arrested on one count of aggravated statutory rape.

Beautiful young girl. Disgusting man. I wonder if he has a history/record of this kind of thing? Our justice system has to do better. They say people can be rehabilitated but I'm not sure that people with that mindset can be rehabbed. They are always repeat offenders. They should be kept off the streets.

“63-year-old Charles “Chuck” Carter Jr. was originally charged with Aggravated Statutory Rape. Putnam Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Austen Pevehouse:

“Carter admitted to delivering and providing illegal narcotics to Taylor,” Pevehouse said. “We are still waiting for the official tox screen to come back to know what exactly which narcotics it was, we don’t have that information currently. But he did admit to giving her stuff and it did lead to her death.”

Pevehouse said Carter is now also charged with one count of Abuse of a Corpse.”
