Toronto police officer found deceased inside home

"A 12-year veteran of the Toronto Police Service was found deceased inside his home on Tuesday.

Constable Sam Sun, 38, had been assigned to 42 Division.

In a message posted to Twitter on Wednesday, police confirmed Sun’s death and said that it is now being investigated by York Regional Police.

The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear."

"In his 12 years on the job, Sun had a reputation of giving 100% on every shift.

On his last shift, McCormack said, he fell and hurt his hand. The officer had been also been experiencing headaches.

“He had been off dealing with that,” said McCormack. “We don’t know if what happened there played a role or not.”

An investigation is under way by York Regional Police.

Whether or not his death stems from his job or not, officers are taking it hard.

“We have lost one of our own, Police Constable Sam SUN #9709 of 42 Division (formerly 54 Division),” tweeted out @thecoffeecop Const. Laurie McCann.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife and entire family during these difficult times. Thank you for your service.”
