11/1/24 Update: The State & defense have finalized their jury questionnaires for jury selection on 12/16/24. They previously told the court will bring in 1,200 potential jurors for questioning in December. If chosen, the jurors could be sequestered for the trial [starts on 2/3/25] which is expected to last a month. Status hearing was continued on 11/22/24 @ 9am.
11/22/24 Update: Jury questionnaires were finalized. 12/4/24 is when the first panel of potential jurors is scheduled to be brought in. Another panel is scheduled for 12/9/24. There are about 1,200 total potential jurors. Final jury selection on 12/16/24.

Held without Bond (murder). $5K Cash/Surety bond (harm). Plead not guilty. Linn County

12/9/24 Update: Lafountain was sentenced to 130 years with 85 years suspended Monday afternoon for killing her 4-month-old in 2015 & her 13-month-old daughter in 2017.

Wednesday, Dec. 18th:
*Trial [Long Cause] set to begin (Divorce) (@ 8:30am PT) – CA – Sherri Louise Papini (39/now 42) vs. Keith Papini (38/now 40) Divorce case filed April, 2022. Shasta County
Keith has already won a series of legal battles in the divorce – including having his ex-wife declared an ‘unfit parent’ & gaining sole legal & physical custody of T & V. Papini is allowed only supervised visits with the children which take place at a court building in Redding & voice & video calls at Keith’s discretion.
On March 3, 2022, Sherri Papini was arrested by the FBI, accused of lying to federal agents & faking her kidnapping to spend time with her ex-boyfriend, away from her husband & family. Six weeks after her arrest, Papini signed a plea deal admitting that she had orchestrated the hoax. In September, 2022, she was sentenced to 18 months in prison & fined $300,000. Papini was released from prison in August, 2023 & placed in a halfway house. In April, 2022, a few days after Sherri pleaded guilty to fraud charges, Keith filed for divorce from his wife & for sole custody of their children. Trial began on 10/31/23 & ended same day.

*Sentencing Hearing (@ 9am ET) – IN – Abigail Joyce Williams (13) & Liberty Rose Lynn German (14) (Missing Feb. 13, 2017, found killed Feb. 14, 2017, after walking on a local hiking trail & were discovered around noon about 50 feet from the north bank of Deer Creek which is about 0.5 miles from the Monon High Bridge Trail, Delphi) – *Richard “Ricky/Rick” Matthew Allen (44 @ time of crime/50/now 52) arrested & booked (10/26/22) into the Carroll County Jail & charged & arraigned (10/28/22) with 2 counts of murder while committing or attempting to commit kidnapping of both victims. Plead not guilty. Initial bond @ $20M on 10/27/22. On 2/16/23 held with no bond.
Amended charges (on 1/18/24/granted on 3/18/24): 2 counts of felony murder (knowingly & intentionally), 2 counts of murder (while committing or attempting to commit kidnapping of both victims). Plead not guilty. Carroll County
*Transferred to White County jail from Carroll County for security reasons. And was transferred (11/2/22) to IN. DOC at Westville Correctional Facility at a more secure facility. Was awaiting transfer to Westville Correctional Facility but Judge Gull denied move (6/15/23). She plans to take the arguments under advisement & will make a ruling on whether or not he will be moved out of Westville at a later date. Judge Gull denied move (7/5/23). On 12/6/23 Allen was transferred from Westville to Wabash Valley Correctional Facility (long term segregation). Allen was booked (5/6/24) into the Allen County Jail [for hearing on 5/7/24]. Sentencing hearing on 12/20/24 @ 9am. A gag order is in place until the sentencing, meaning Allen, lawyers, jurors, families & witnesses will not be allowed to speak on the verdict. The sentencing hearing will take several hours (or all day) as the State & Defense argue for a longer/lighter sentence & the judge hears victim impact statements from families. Each charge brings a maximum penalty of 45-65 years in prison.

12/4/24 Update: Judge Gull denied a media request to have a camera in the courtroom for the sentencing of Allen on Dec. 20. She did not offer any explanation as to why.

Child Services; Evelyn’s remains were found on Mar. 6, 2020 at a family member’s property at the 500 block of Muddy Creek Road in Sullivan County; officially id’d Mar. 11, 2020). *Megan “Maggie” Boswell (18/now 23) aka Maggie Wood aka Megan Nicole Kys “mother” arrested & originally charged (2/25/20) with 1 count of false reporting. 12/16/24 Update: The jury selection for Boswell was postponed on Monday. The jury selection process had initially been set to begin on Monday after the questionnaires for potential jurors were finalized in late November. However, the selection was delayed until 2/3/25 when trial begins.

Wednesday, Dec. 18th:
*Trial [Long Cause] set to begin-VACATED! (Divorce) (@ 8:30am PT) – CA – Sherri Louise Papini (39/now 42) vs. Keith Papini (38/now 40) Divorce case filed April, 2022. Shasta County
Keith has already won a series of legal battles in the divorce – including having his ex-wife declared an ‘unfit parent’ & gaining sole legal & physical custody of T & V. Papini is allowed only supervised visits with the children which take place at a court building in Redding & voice & video calls at Keith’s discretion.
On March 3, 2022, Sherri Papini was arrested by the FBI, accused of lying to federal agents & faking her kidnapping to spend time with her ex-boyfriend, away from her husband & family. Six weeks after her arrest, Papini signed a plea deal admitting that she had orchestrated the hoax. In September, 2022, she was sentenced to 18 months in prison & fined $300,000. Papini was released from prison in August, 2023 & placed in a halfway house. In April, 2022, a few days after Sherri pleaded guilty to fraud charges, Keith filed for divorce from his wife & for sole custody of their children. Trial began on 10/31/23 & ended same day.
Trial was set to begin on 12/18/24 & continued on 12/19/24 were vacated.

*Sentencing Hearing (@ 9am ET) – IN – Abigail Joyce Williams (13) & Liberty Rose Lynn German (14) (Missing Feb. 13, 2017, found killed Feb. 14, 2017, after walking on a local hiking trail & were discovered around noon about 50 feet from the north bank of Deer Creek which is about 0.5 miles from the Monon High Bridge Trail, Delphi) – *Richard “Ricky/Rick” Matthew Allen (44 @ time of crime/50/now 52) arrested & booked (10/26/22) into the Carroll County Jail & charged & arraigned (10/28/22) with 2 counts of murder while committing or attempting to commit kidnapping of both victims. Plead not guilty. Initial bond @ $20M on 10/27/22. On 2/16/23 held with no bond. Amended charges (on 1/18/24/granted on 3/18/24): 2 counts of felony murder (knowingly & intentionally), 2 counts of murder (while committing or attempting to commit kidnapping of both victims). 12/20/24 Update: Proceedings included victim impact statements from six family members. Included Kerry Timmons, Libby’s mother, Josh Lank, a cousin of Libby’s, Abby’s grandmother, Diana Erskin, Abby's grandfather, Eric Erskin, Becky Patty, Libby’s grandmother & Mike Patty, Libby’s grandfather. Once the victim impact statements were over, Gull asked Allen if he wanted to address the court. “No, your honor,” Allen answered. With her role in the case at its end, Gull lifted the gag order that had been in place for more than two years. Richard Allen has been sentenced to 130 years in prison in the murders of Abby Williams & Libby German. Allen’s sentence is in. 65 years for each count 3 & 4 to be served consecutively for both Abby & Libby. Count one & two vacated because of double jeopardy at the request of Allen’s attorneys. Judge Frances Gull told Allen “you rank right up there with the most hideous crimes” she has seen in her 27 years on the bench. Allen has 30 days to file notice that Nick McLeland will appeal. If he doesn't file, there's no appeal. If he files, they will respond accordingly.
