Father and Aunt are not giving impact statements! Wow.

And what in the heck is the prosecutor asking for in terms of sentencing?? That is the most jumbled sentencing argument from a prosecutor.

Is the prosecutor unsure?

He sounds so tentative...

Asking for consecutive sentences... but.... without malice murder.... so maybe just LWP...

Wishy washy...

How is it that the judge and both counsels seem confused and surprised by the charges, merges and sentencing?
That's what I'm saying!!!! LOL

Per defense attorney, LWP means a minimum of 30 years.

  • #405
Defense is asking for LWP and concurrent sentences because LWP plus consecutive is equal to LWOP.

At least the Defense is clear.

Judge says there's tragedy on both sides.

Life in prison with a concurrent sentence of 20 years for the cruelty to a child conviction.

She'll be eligible for parole in 30 years I believe.

LP. Concurrent sentences.

  • #409
She'll be 50 years old when she's eligible for parole.

Yes! I am surprised he didnt ask for LWOP. I understand the severity of her being in prison that long. We are talking about a innocent child who lost their life.

She seems to be a very dangerous woman with uncontrollable fits of rage.
Not in control of powerful emotions.

Why did she murder this child? 😳
Why did she hate him so much?
The force she must have used for such lethal injuries seems enormous for a woman IMO.

Had she shown worrying & aggressive behaviour earlier?
She must have IMO.
Murdering a child was not something that happened out of the blue.

She destroyed not only the child's life,
but hers as well - (and others' too.)
For what?

She seemed to have a bright future ahead of her -
she was young, was a good student, seemed ambitious, probably with prospects of satisfying career.

Look at her now.
A child murderer.

Horrific.

Rest in Peace Sweet Little Angel :(

I guess instead of LWOP he was asking for Life with parole + 20 years, which would've been 50 years total. It's pretty close to LWOP and I think he was acknowledging that the jury didn't think she did it with malice/intentionality and she's a young woman etc and that's why he didn't feel justified in asking for LWOP.

Yeah, I can understand that. I have harsh feelings toward anyone who hurts a child.

They want to know if the multiple charges break down to one for the head, one for the liver.

Judge cannot really answer the question. Asks them to refer to the indictment and return to the deliberation room.

what does this mean? google was no help unless I wanted to learn about the anatomy of a liver

Weird trial all around! Surprised zero interrogation videos were included. Also never seen a sentencing where nobody wanted to testify?

She clearly didn’t intend to kill JD but did lash out in anger at him resulting in physical harm and death. Maybe I’m surprised that she’s getting similar times as moms who chronically abuse and murder their own young children? Maybe her and Leilani will be BFFs

I believe they were asking is one applied to the injury of the head and the other for the torso injury. IMO they were trying to understand why there was 2 charges for the same thing.
