Divers search harbour over 40-year-old diplomat murder
''The unsolved 40-year-old fatal shootings of a Turkish diplomat and his bodyguard in Sydney are being investigated by counter-terrorist experts.
The NSW Joint Counter Terrorism Team is appealing for public help after new information into the cold case execution-like murders came to light. There is a $1 million reward on offer.
Turkish Consul-General Sarik Ariyak, 50, and his bodyguard, Engin Sever, 28, were gunned down in Portland Street, Dover Heights, in eastern Sydney, on December 17, 1980.
The deadly shootings were witnessed by Mr Ariyak's then 12-year-old daughter Cagla.''

''Last December, the reward for information was increased to $1 million on the 39th anniversary of the murders , yielding new lines of inquiry, NSW Police Counter Terrorism and Special Tactics Commander, Assistant Commissioner Mark Walton said.''

''New public information lead to a police search of part of Sydney Harbour. (NSW Police)
Following them up, police divers recently searched waters in Sydney Harbour off Greenwich Point.
Asst Comm. Walton said the killings were a "calculated act of terrorism that remains unsolved".
