WINKLER COUNTY, Texas (Nexstar)- The Winkler County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help to locate a missing man from Florida whose truck was found abandoned on County Road 313.

According to a Facebook post, 48-year-old Alexis Sanchez Azcuy, was last heard from via the telephone on March 13. Deputies found his commercial vehicle abandoned and unlocked on County Road 313 earlier this week. According to the Sheriff’s Office, Azcuy’s phone has not yet been located and calls go straight to voicemail.

Azcuy has no known contacts in the area, other than the people who reported him missing.

Additionally, he has no other known local address, transportation, or means of communication.

Anyone who sees this man is asked to call 432-586-5508.

This is a weird one. Winkler county is in west Texas and borders New Mexico. There’s not a lot out there. If his truck wasn’t broken down, just abandoned and unlocked, then I just don’t know! Could he have had some kind of medical issue and no cell service right there? Tried to walk for help, but then where is he?

Details of Disappearance​

Sanchez Azcuy was last heard from by phone on March 13, 2022. He was a truck driver for Tex Energy Resources. His brother found his semi truck unlocked and abandoned on County Road 313 in Kermit, Texas on March 15 and reported his disappearance to police.

The night after Sanchez Azcuy disappeared, his family got strange messages from his phone number. The messages purported to be from Sanchez Azcuy and said he was in trouble and had had to go to Mexico, but his family is not sure if the messages were in fact from him.

Sanchez Azcuy moved to the United States from Cuba in 2011; his mother, wife and daughter still live there. He lived in Odessa, Texas at the time of his disappearance, but he has ties to Florida. Few details are available in his case.

I couldn't find any reference to a search. CR 313 is a short but busy road.

Well if there is any truth to the message sent to his family he could have been in MX in less than 4 hrs driving, FWIW. (Pre-arranged).

And IF he used his passport it would be known...hmmm.

Tho IF he was really "in trouble & needed to go to MX" he may not have required a passport, iykwim.

WINKLER COUNTY, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- The man responsible for the 2022 murder of 48-year-old Alexis Sanchez Azcuy in Winkler County will spend the rest of his life in prison thanks to collaborative investigative efforts by the Texas Rangers with local, state and federal law enforcement. Alejandro Rodriguez Hernandez, 33, received a life sentence for murder and 20 years for abuse of a corpse by a Winkler County jury on July 16, 2025.
