<<“My dad disappeared in 1999. He had a son, who was murdered in 1996 on my oldest daughter’s birthday,” Lovetta shared. “My brother, before he was murdered, told me that Dad stole drugs from him. He said a guy threatened him if he didn’t come up with the money. Sure enough, he couldn’t come up with the large amount, and the guy followed through on the threat.”>>

<<“My father later said, before he disappeared, that the guy had threatened him too. It’s a strong possibility that the guy came back for my dad as well,” she shared. “He started talking about being burned up, and then he vanished. We haven’t heard anything since.”>>

<<The last time anyone remembers seeing Gene was in October 1999, and he was known to frequent the Acres Homes area of Houston>>

Details of Disappearance

Little was last seen in Houston, Texas on October 8, 1999. He has never been heard from again. He was known to frequent the Acres Homes area of Houston at the time of his disappearance.

Little's daughter stated her father also had a son, who was murdered in 1996. Prior to his murder, Little's son told his sister that Little had stolen drugs from him, and that someone had threatened him, the son, unless he paid a large amount of money to compensate for the theft. The son was murdered after he was unable to pay. Prior to his 1999 disappearance, Little said the person who had killed his son had threatened his life also. Little's daughter thinks his disappearance could be related to this.

Some reports state that Little was homeless at the time of his disappearance. He would drop out of sight for weeks at a time and immerse himself in street life. For this reason, some time passed before he was reported missing. He was declared legally dead in 2021, and his case remains unsolved.

''Houston police confirmed with KHOU 11 that the remains of Almond Gene Little, who disappeared without a trace in 1999, were found at the Harris County Cemetery. ''

''Cold case investigators learned that the father of five died at a hospital in 2000, but because no next of kin was located at the time, he was buried without his family’s knowledge.''

''Little-Smith said she believes the family was not notified immediately when Little died because her father was admitted to the hospital under his middle name, “Gene Little,” instead of his full name, “Almond Gene Little.”

Almond Gene Little's daughter told KHOU 11 that she spent years searching for him. “It took up a lot of my time. It took up a lot of my emotions," she said.

This does not appear to have been a case listed in NamUs or ClaimUs. The only two UID men found in Harris Co. Texas in 2000 were skeletal or decomposed bodies found in the woods;
The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) (ML00-1182)
The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) (ML00-3562)

The only unclaimed man from this county in 2000 was a former unidentified remains case which was resolved in 2014;
The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) (ML00-2339)
