Amarillo Police Department needs help finding missing man

On June 13th, APD officers were called to the 7400 block of Holyoke on a missing person. Bobby Lee Johns, a 65 year old white male, was last seen in Amarillo on June 9th. Johns is described as being 5’11’’ tall and weighing 205 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. Bobby Johns’ vehicle was located by Oldham County Deputies off of Mile Marker 15 of IH-40 in Oldham County later in the day on June 13th. Authorities believe that Mr. Johns could be in danger and are asking anyone who may have information of his whereabouts to call the Amarillo Police Department at 378-3038.

Cold Case: APD Working to Find Missing People From Amarillo

Nicole Moore has been missing since December 2016 and police say leads haven't gotten them far.

"We've spoken to Nicole Moore's family, we've spoken to friends and several people trying to locate her," said Cpl. Jeb Hilton, with the Amarillo Police Department.

Officials have located Nicole's car, which was found in the Toys R Us parking lot and have found where her cell phone last pinged.

"Last year in April our Special Crimes detective did get new information on the last location of her cell phone. In December of 2016, her cell phone was on the northwest corner of Ivy Ranch. They went out to that location and searched, they have not been able to locate her at this point," added Hilton.

Corporal Hilton tells us while police were searching the area where Moore's phone last went off they found an abandoned truck.

That truck belonged to a missing man, Bobby Lee Johns.

"Johns is a 65-year-old male, was last seen around June 9th of 2018 and again we've got no loads as to where he might be. We haven't heard from, we've got no leads as to his whereabouts," said Hilton.

In June, police said Johns is believed to be in danger.

Hilton tells us detectives are actively working both cases and also continue to work Dorien Thomas' case.

Oldham County officials find human remains believed to be missing Amarillo man

OLDHAM COUNTY, Texas (KFDA) - The Oldham County Sheriff’s Office has found human remains believed to be those of an Amarillo man who has been missing for over three years.

According to officials, on Wednesday, July 7, the Oldham County Sheriff’s Office was notified by a local rancher that he had discovered weathered clothing and items in a remote area on his ranch.

Oldham County officials, investigators with the Amarillo Police Department Special Crimes Unit and DPS officials investigated the area and discovered the clothing and identifiers that are believed to have belonged to Bobby Lee Johns.

Johns has been missing from Amarillo since June 2018.

On Thursday, July 8, the investigators continued the search and later found human skeletal remains.

The evidence collected from the scene will be sent to the University of North Texas for examination and identification purposes.

Officials say they are not looking for any suspects at this time.
