He almost looks in a sleeping position the way he's laying down like that.

Any chance he just died of hypothermia while hiding/sleeping out in a field for the night?

(I know he was found in August, but is there a chance it gets that cold at night in Brooks County, TX?)

Is there a known COD? He does not appear like an user and it does not look like homicide, either.
He had all his cards and id with him and a cute folded money note from his girlfriend or sister. It does not look like a fake id.
Should be an easy id if it is possible to contact Honduran authorities.

It is most likely a fake name and ID. From the research I’ve done, most migrants crossing illegally don’t carry any form of ID, and those who do carry ID typically carry a fake ID under a fake name.

He had a nice new Samsung phone with the triple/quad camera too.
It makes you think he couldn't have been too badly off in Honduras.

He looks emaciated. I would think that it being August in Texas, he most likely died of heat stroke - lack of water (and, in my opinion, food). Poor guy :(

I dont think he looks emaciated. Normal slender young man. Plus probably his body being exposed to the heat for a while.

I also thought maybe he was a drug mule and some internal pack ruptured. It looks like he suddenly felt unwell and lied down in the grass. But if he was a drug mule, i guess it would be written in the description? Also i dont know if this area is a popular travel/smuggle area. He had Mexican money on him, despite his Honduran ID (fake or not).
He does not look starved. And tbh (maybe i am old, dont know) id rather pawn my phone for food money than starve to death.

Out there somewhere is a girlfriend or maybe sister who worries. Handsome young man with good, clean clothing and nice teeth. He was not homeless or transient or a border crosser. He may have been illegal, though, especially if le cant find records and if his ID is fake.

He is most likely a border crosser. One of the most trafficked paths for migrants crossing the US-Mexico border goes from Reynosa, MX to Falfurrias, TX (which is at the top of Brooks County). Based on the thousands of missing migrant stories I've read, it's highly likely he developed blisters on his feet or was too exhausted and couldn't walk any more so the group he was crossing with left him under the tree in the hopes that he would be protected from the sun. He most likely died from dehydration and/or exposure. MOO.
