GUILTY TX - Christopher Roy, Boy Scout Volunteer Busted With Child Porn

Christopher Roy won't become a Boy Scout's Of America leader like he had hoped to.

The 37 year old parent and Scout volunteer was arrested at Dallas-Fort Worth airport after customs agents checked his bags after a trip to Mexico. In it they found videos of child pornography downloaded from the internet.

So far no parent has come forward who had a child in Scout's of which this guy had volunteered.

"Federal authorities say they expect a former Scout volunteer to plead guilty Tuesday to charges that he carried child-pornography videos on his computer. Christopher T. Roy, 38, of XXX Chestnut St., Middleboro, is expected to enter a guilty plea at his hearing before U.S. District Court Judge Douglas P. Woodlock..."

"....On June 12, federal authorities say, customs agents at the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport put Roy’s luggage through extra screening and found what they believed to be several child-pornography videos on his laptop.

Roy was returning from a trip to Aguascalientes, a city in central Mexico. He and several other people from the Boston area had been identified on a watch list of those suspected of purchasing subscriptions to known child-pornography websites. Federal authorities said Roy told ICE agents that he had downloaded 15 child pornography videos two weeks previously and he had started to download another 20 videos.

At the time of his arrest, Roy had been volunteering with local Boy Scout Troop 96.

A Cub Scout volunteer who pleaded guilty to child pornography charges in March was sentenced Thursday in federal court in Boston to an 18-month prison sentence.

Christopher T. Roy, 38, of 135 Chestnut St., Middleboro, faced a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in federal prison, a $250,000 fine and a lifetime of supervision by a federal probation officers, but U.S. District Court Judge Douglas P. Woodlock sentenced Roy to the 18 months with five years of supervision after he is released.
