Youth church director in Van Alstyne arrested on child sex crimes

A church youth director from Van Alstyne has been arrested on child sex crimes.

Timothy Urban was jailed Friday night and charged with sexual assault, bigamy, and sexual performance of a child. He's being held on a $750,000 bond at the Grayson County Jail.

Urban, 52, was the part-time youth director at First United Methodist Church of Van Alstyne.

Timothy Urban, 52, pleaded guilty to one count of sexual assault and one count of sexual performance with a child.

Two additional counts of each crime were dropped as part of the plea agreement.

Urban was sentenced to 12 years in prison and will have to register as a sex offender.
