TX TX - Danielle (Dani) Croft, 36, Bonham, 6 or 7 Dec 2023

Per Danielle's sister in the podcast, their grandmother was the last family member to actually see Danielle. The pink pajamas supposedly found outside alongside the street the next day by Danielle's BF were the same clothes that she (her grandmother) brought over to the home of Danielle's BF the night before she disappeared.

Danielle's sister says that the pajamas had a strong smell of cigarette smoke, but otherwise appeared clean.

Per NamUs, she was wearing pink slide sandals but I don't see any mention of them anywhere else. Seems to me those would have to come off before the pajamas?

I haven't listened to the podcast yet but I hope it answers some questions. To start...
  • She left bf's house 3:00 a.m. - how far away is her grandmother's house?
  • She walks with a limp - why didn't someone give her a ride?
  • When did her phone go off? Did she have it at her bf's? Do we know last ping?
  • Were wallet and meds at grandmother's house?
  • Have the two other men at the house been questioned? Whereabouts established?
  • Have police made any statements?
  • Is the Bonham PD receiving any assistance from other agencies? Because it looks like they just have two detectives. Staff Directory • Criminal Investigations
She's been missing for 4 months. :( IMO, her family is going to need to get LOUD. MOO

I made it about 1/2 way through the podcast earlier today and some of my questions have been answered.
  • Grandmother's house which is only a street away, or a couple of blocks away from Sam's house.
  • Sam said that when Dani left to look at Christmas lights, she asked him to go with her, but he declined.
  • Regarding the phone, Grandmother had not heard from Dani since Tuesday, and Dani wasn't responding to calls or texts on Wednesday, and Dani always went home. She didn't come home Tuesday or Wednesday night. When Grandmother got to Sam's house with the pajama's, her phone was dead. Sam told her it was charging, but the family knows that wasn't true.
  • When Dani left Sam's house that morning, she left a bag which had her identification and medications in it.
  • The men have been questioned but so far, no details released.
Some notes:

Dani's family watched her closely and didn't have any suspicions she was using drugs again. She recently saw her doctor and all her bloodwork came back clean.

Due to her struggles with addiction, Dani didn't have primary custody of her children but always made a point of being present in their lives. The children have grown up with their dad and stepmom.

Dani managed a local dollar store in Bonham TX but left months before her disappearance. She was having issues with hernia(s) from the physical demands and was encouraged to put off getting another job in order to qualify for medical assistance. She was also getting help for an eating disorder and in the process of seeing a neurologist for epilepsy.

Dani was living in Bonham with her Grandmother and was seeing someone new named Sam. Dani's family didn't meet him until post-disappearance. He had been described as a friend and family didn't know they were dating.

Dani wouldn't stay the night with Sam because the house was supposed to be kind of like a halfway house for male veterans.

So Grandmother was worried and couldn't get in touch with Dani and grabbed some clean laundry as she assumed Dani didn't have clean clothes to wear and went to Sam's house which is only a street away - a couple of blocks.

Grandmother said she got there around 10pm Wed night and left around 1am Thurs morning.

Grandmother saw Dani and her phone was dead. Sam pointed out a charger and what looked to be Dani's phone charging. They now know that wasn't true.

Dani's Grandmother described her (sister's words, not Grandma's) as kind of a zombie, like "out of it."

Grandmother tried to get Dani to come home but was also worried that it might turn into a fight or they wouldn't help bring Dani home.

Dani was not dressed when her Grandmother got there and there were multiple men in the house. At least Sam, his brother, and someone else who might be a cousin.

Dani was saying that she was hot, but it wasn't hot in the house. There was a heater, but it wasn't turned toward Dani - it was turned toward one of the other men. No one else in the house was naked.

Grandmother told Sam that he needed to put clothing on her - to get up and put clothing on her - and gave Sam the clothing she was last seen in which were fuzzy pink pajamas.

When Grandmother left, Dani had those clothes on, which had been freshly washed.

More notes. I should point out that all of this information is coming from Dani's sister K and her Aunt V, parts were told to them by Grandmother... I still have the second half of the podcast to listen to. There's a ton of information. Also, I'm shortening "Grandmother" to GM for this version! MOO

When GM described the way Dani looked that night, her sister K thought it sounded like possibly Fentanyl. K said Dani is never quiet and what her GM described was such a dramatic shift.

GM went back to her house but could not sleep. She waited for Dani to come home and fell asleep sometime later that morning between 7 and 10 a.m.

GM was awakened by Sam knocking on her door, and this is where the story diverges between GM's story and Sam's, which K says has changed multiple times.

Around 10 a.m. Sam is at GM's holding the pink pajamas and asks if Dani came home because he found the pajamas in the road.

GM and Sam get in her car and start driving around the neighborhood where he said he saw the clothes. Both believed they had to wait 24 hours to report Dani missing.

They waited 24 hours and GM called police about 10 on the dot.

Sister K explained what Sam had told her family that night: Dani left his house, he said originally, at 3 a.m to go look at Christmas lights. He later said it was 4 a.m. and that he kept calling her and texting her, but at 4:30 the calls stopped going through and went straight to voicemail, which K says isn't true. She says the phone was dead and calls would have gone to voicemail the whole time.

K says Sam didn't bother to go out after Dani until he left around 10 a.m. to go to the smoke shop. On his way there, he saw the clothes, picked them up, carried them to the smoke shop, and then to GM's.

Per K, they were originally told different locations. At one point, Dani's mom, her two aunts, and one of her uncles went and picked Sam up and asked him to show them where he picked the clothing up.

Sam said he found one article by the park just a few blocks down - Powder Creek Park - and the other article in the intersection of Center or Main St and 5th St which would be on the way to town.

He noted that the pants caught his attention because he saw a truck run over them.

Sam also said that when Dani went to go look at Christmas lights, she asked him to go with her but he declined, and she took her phone with her which is also missing. Per K, the phone was not on but it wasn't a matter of the bill not being paid. They have proof that Dani's phone was last on Wed evening. So they know it wasn't sitting charging like Sam said, or that he tried calling...

Sam said Dani left her bag behind which had important items such as her medications and identification.

Apparently Sam also filed a mp report and K rec'd the report from the responding officer and spoke with him immediately, while he was on his way back from taking GM and Sam's statements.

She asked if he searched the house and he said he stood in the living room and kind of leaned side-to-side to look in but didn't walk around or physically search the house because it was very busy, like a revolving door, with multiple men in and out (more than just the three they had been told about).

The house is in close proximity to Powder Creek Park, a church, and the railroad tracks. Community members saw a drone search but not a ground search, and K was told by the original officer that they didn't have the resources to do a search - they would need to do it "as a community."

Aunt V says there are things that don't add up 1) the clothes were found way down the road from any path Dani would have taken to get to her GM's house. She was way on the other side and would have had to go around some blocks to get back to GM's. 2) Sam said Dani wanted to go look at Christmas lights, but her GM said she wasn't in a position to walk.

In the weeks following Dani's disappearance, a new investigator was put on the case. More people were questioned and they searched the house, but not forensically. They didn't take the clothes Dani was last wearing. Apparently, Sam still had the clothes and the original officer told family that they didn't take them because they were contaminated (because Sam picked them up). Later, Aunt V and GM went and got the clothes, and they were kept in a bag in one of their trunks? (GM's, I think)

The clothes weren't covered in grass, or dirt, or leaves, or anything, yet Sam claims they were found on the side of the road an apparently run over. K says there was no evidence that they were worn outside.

They do know they weren't washed after being worn by Dani as there was a little bit of blood spotting in the crotch of the pants. It was obvious they weren't washed. They reeked of cigarette smoke, but K says everything in that house did.

The police now have the clothes as evidence. Family was told that all they can do is questioning (vs. interrogation) because they don't have evidence that a crime occurred and Dani is an adult who is allowed to go missing. They were told this by many officers as well as the detectives.

Earlier, K mentioned that Dani didn't stay over at Sam's until the days leading up to her disappearance and that was because it was a halfway house for veterans. It's not clear what changed. K said the home is not anything legitimate - it's not a non-profit - it just has the reputation. She says the home owner is just one of the local scumlord landlords and that most of the men staying there were all brothers or cousins.

There was no household supervisor and it was the landlord's rule that no women were allowed to stay there.

Sam's brother, who was there at the house that night, has a record in Payne County OK for domestic assault and battery. second and subsequence offense in early 2017.

I haven't been on WS In so long but came back for Dani. She's from the same small town as me and there are certain things being said that happened to her that says she'll never be found. PD are as good as an ashtray on a motorbike too.

It is reported that Danielle has epilepsy and is without her prescription. If she hasn't been taking her prescription for a year, can she be alive? Short answer, yes. Long answer, its complicated. She would be at a higher risk for what is called SUDEP, sudden unexpected death in epilepsy. But there is no certainty either way.
