A family in Frisco is desperate for help in finding a missing retired police officer.

David Spence has not been seen since last Tuesday.

The 74-year-old was walking in the area of Eldorado Parkway and the Dallas North Tollway at around 9 p.m.

His family says he needed his medications.

Spence, has not been diagnosed with dementia, but his family worries he may be developing the disease.

He was last seen wearing blue jeans, tennis shoes and a blue wind-breaker jacket.

Sadly, missing for almost a week.

Frisco police searched the surrounding area with residents and other nearby agencies.

But railroad workers found his body eight days later near railroad tracks about a mile from his home, according to police.


He appeared to have a self-inflicted gunshot wound, but authorities said the cause of death is being investigated.

At the time of his disappearance, Spence's family told KXAS-TV (NBC5) that he was a retired police officer and veteran who needed medication. Relatives said he had not been diagnosed with dementia but were worried he might be developing the disease.
