TX TX - Elizabeth Barraza, 29, murdered setting up garage sale, Harris Co, Jan 2019 #7

I just began to read about this case for the first time this week. LB went to get coffee at Starbucks before setting up the garage sale. Is it possible that LB cut someone off during her trip back from the Starbucks and this person followed her back to her residence to harm her? Did the investigation look into the possibility of this being a road rage incident?

The vehicle the shooter drove was spotted on the neighbors video driving by Liz’s house a few hours earlier. Before she left for her morning coffee at Starbucks.

Heads 🆙

There is a new YouTube channel covering Liz. ...True Crime Unresolved.

The initial coverage has been great, but the exciting news is they will be releasing long form interviews with Liz's parents, Detective Ritchie, and Liz's good friends & 501st members.

Not an approved source.... hoping we will hear new information, and it will be nice to get to know Liz more from her friends. I will try and get the interviews approved by Silly Billy when released for discussion.

8/15: Liz's parents, Rosemary and Bob

9/5: Lead detective on her case, Michael Ritchie

&

10/17: her good friends, and other 501st members

edited: took out friend's name in case that break rules.... although they did comment in the People magazine article.

This case makes me insane. How can there still be no justice for Liz yet??

I so hope LE has more than they're saying. Maybe they just don't have enough to pin it on the responsible party.

We can only hope.

I know other posters have touched on this before, but I really can't shake the feeling that one of the keys to this investigation is the source of the gunshot previously fired into Liz's workplace and the burglary that occurred at her and SB's old residence. They could be unrelated to one another and unrelated to the murder, but to me it seems like someone was stalking or trying to intimidate Liz for quite some time. The big question of course is why?

Searching on YouTube I can’t find a channel titled True Crime Unresolved. Searching her name pulls up a boatload of videos from many different sources.

Yes! Someone wanted Luz dead, that’s for sure. How many people have gun shots fired into their workplace? Add to that a burglary. I, too, find it awfully coincidental.

Sorry if this is redundant, but where do you recall hearing about this prior workplace incident/burgulary? I hadn't heard that before and would like to look into it.

Not redundant....at all, a good refresher. I think most of us need one after 6 long years of waiting on justice.

APARTMENT BURGLARY
the burglary was years before the murder when Liz and Sergio lived in an 3rd floor apartment. They bought their house in April 2016.

Here, Sergio briefly talks about being cautious due to break-in, getting nest cam and Liz not being afraid of anything before her murder.

Here, her parents also briefly speak about the break-in making her cautious and how dedicated someone must have been to break in since it was on the third floor.

WORK PLACE
gunshot into her building.....we never really heard more about this, at least I didn't. Fellow member below and podcaster morf13. His source was Paul Holes. The Paul Holes show/episode was never released. Liz's father mentions this episode as never being released due to the tv network being sold.

Never have I encountered a case that is so clearly a targeted killing and yet nobody close to to victim can point to a reason why she would be targeted, or recognize any of the features of the perp or their car.. who was captured on clear video multiple times as well as by eyewitnesses who were on the phone with police at the time. This is the luckiest murderer ever.

I agree that someone was intent to kill EB specifically that morning.

With regard to the gun shots fired into the workplace being related to this case, I would be curious about the context surrounding that workplace shooting.

Texans can buy guns from private owners without going through a background check and are even allowed to carry them (concealed). If they are prolific in the community I would find it less surprising for an event like this to take place.

Here are some workplace violence statistics:

The CDC cites 20,000 non-fatal trauma incidents in the private sector for the year 2020 in the US.

DTPete, thanks for the helpful reminders on this case. I hadn't realized that the burglary had happened quite a ways in the past.

I really have a hard time understanding this case. Is it a case of LE not having a clue? Or is it a case of LE knowing who did this, but cannot get the evidence to make an arrest (and get a conviction)?

I just stumbled upon this 4-episode podcast from February called "Unknown Reasons: The Life and Death of Liz Barraza," produced by Tomball High School's Cougar Claw newspaper, Liz's alma mater.

I hope everyone has access to Spotify. It’s a great listen. Some of the volume is a little wonky so Turn it Up.

Bob and Rosemary Nuelle discuss Liz's childhood, her phases: tom boy, goth, punk. Her hobbies: reading, their shared love of music.

A friend is also interviewed, recalling the day she got the news/call from Sergio, not comprehending the gravity of Liz's injuries. Racing to the hospital.

This really got to me, the last text Mr. Nuelle received from Liz regarding the garage sale and how it took months for him to reread it and for her final words to sink in. Absolutely heartbreaking for him to carry that weight.

How and where her ashes were spread.

Grab your Kleenex…but there are some funny stories too.

Praying justice comes soon 🫶...and the killer(s) rot in Eternal H&LL

episode 1
episode 2
episode 3
episode 4
I read the first paragraph of your post and imediately gave all four episodes a listen. I agree, they are worth listening to. One detail I had never heard was the last texts between Bob and Liz that you mentioned. That part stood out to me as well. The details are crushing and I feel so badly for him. However, I think there is a good chance she was being sarcastic in her reply. If so, I hope ,and believe that Bob would have picked up on it. Nevertheless, he is a brave man to retell that story.

Listening to all the interviews given by Bob and Rosemary over the years, it's clear as to why those that knew liz always talk about her kindness, generosity, and the positive impact she had on their lives.

I already mentioned Bob's bravery but it extends to Liz's mom as well. Six years on, and they are still fighting to keep Liz's name relevant. I hope that one day soon, they will get the answers they seek. They deserve it.

I don't feel as though this is a case of LE ineptitude. There have been two different lead detectives on this case. Both have favorable reputations and above average solve rates. More recently, the Texas Rangers and FBI have also assisted in the investigation. I realize none of this guarantees a perfect investigation, but on paper, it suggests a strong one.

I hope, and believe, they have a better idea of what happened than what has been released. What do I base my belief on? My Magic 8 Ball replied "You may rely on it" when asked directly.

Hi everyone :)

DTPeke has asked for approval for a youtube video called True Crime Unsolved, where the hosts, Myles and Sean, interview Liz's parents.

Approval is given on a 1 time thread specific basis (so not blanket approval at this time).

"it's ok dad just remember, I’m going to be there all by my lonesome"

100% agree pure sarcasm and I think he knows, he's touched on the last text before, but he's never fully quoted it. No doubt in my mind if he had been there, he'd die trying to protect her.... but I think the killer knew she'd be alone.

If anything, the last text shows she wasn't scared of being alone, she never saw this coming...I mean who would though. I'm so glad you listened @spivey

I have to share this, a break from the horror. You can feel and hear the joy and happiness this memory evokes.

THE CONCERT STORY by Bob Nuelle....a wonderful man, great father, advocate and superb storyteller

PROJECT REVOLUTION: Korn, Linkin Park, Snoop Dogg, The Used w/6 other bands

Cynthia Woods Pavillion (outdoor venue), I noted this because it can be miserable

She begged to be able to go.

She was like 13 years old at the time.

I looked at it, said no. I said I'll tell you what, I'm gonna get a deal; if I can go with you, you can go.

and that was horrifying to her.

She just couldn't imagine. I said, listen, I'll listen to the music. I'll familiarize myself before we go, and I'll try not to embarrass you.

and so, we ended up going and by some weird quirk of faith never to be understood,

The tickets that I bought were. In front. The closest row. Just three feet to the right of a mosh pit.

and a couple of musicians were throwing her guitar picks and Snoop Dogg flung a CD.

She just was...she was in heaven.

The concert ended and this guy working on the stage for Korn tapped her on the shoulder.

and said Munky, the guitarist for Korn would like her to come to the afterparty

and she was just like, ohhhhh!!!!

and I looked at the guy and said, if she's going, I'm going.

He says, Oh no, no, you're not invited.

and so I went in that one shining moment, I went from greatest dad on the Earth to just a heel.

but we connected over that music over the years. There were all kinds of bands that we connected to.

and if she was having a bad day and if I was having a bad day.

We could always turn some music on and sit there and just forget about what we were dealing with.

These were the best stories/memories....
Justice cannot come soon enough.....music to all our ears when we hear that guilty verdict.

I just read that Sergio had a 2005 black Toyota Tundra that he kept at his parents house. He said he thought the killer used a black Nissan Frontier because it looked similar to his Tundra.... but I wonder if the shooter was actually driving his Tundra and added the Frontier decal. In this scenario it would be someone with access to his Toyota Tundra that shot Liz.
