<modsnip: removed broken link>''The Texas Department of Public Safety wants to remind the public it is seeking help in solving the 1979 slaying of Elizabeth Lynne Barclay.

An increased reward of up to $6,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the person or people responsible if the tip is received before next month’s featured Texas Rangers cold case is announced. A $3,000 reward for information leading to an arrest is routinely offered on all cases on the Texas Rangers Unsolved Homicides website.

On Oct. 23, 1979, 7-year-old Barclay was walking with her younger brother and friend in the 2900 block of West Northwest Highway in Dallas when they were approached by a black man. The man, who was 30 to 35 years old at the time, was driving a dark-colored vehicle with a trunk lid that wouldn’t close all the way.

The car stopped and the man got out of the vehicle. A witness said the man grabbed Barclay and struck her several times as he carried her back to his car. It was the last time she was seen alive.

In December 1979, Barclay’s remains were found on the side of a rural road in Van Zandt County. After a lengthy investigation by the Dallas Police Department, the case stalled.

About a year ago, the Texas Rangers reopened the investigation. Anyone with information about the homicide or the identity of the offender is urged to come forward. Today, the offender would likely be over 70 years old.

To be eligible for cash rewards, tipsters must provide information to authorities by calling the Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-252-TIPS. All tips are anonymous.

Individuals can also submit information through the Texas Rangers cold case website or by phone at 800-346-3242 (Missing Persons Hotline).''

Rangers Seek Information In 1979 Slaying Of 7-Year-Old Elizabeth Lynne Barclay, Reward Increased - Corridor News
''The trio was approached by a black male — who was approximately 30 to 35 years old — driving a dark-colored vehicle with a trunk lid that wouldn’t close all the way.''

''The Texas Crime Stoppers reward is increased up to $6,000 for the featured case in hopes that the higher reward money will generate additional tips.

The higher reward amount will only be paid if the tip is submitted before the next case is featured.

The Texas Ranger Unsolved Crimes Investigations Program was created to assist Texas law enforcement agencies investigating unsolved homicides or violent serial crimes.

Since there is no statute of limitations for the offense of murder, investigators pursue these cases to a successful resolution or until no viable leads remain.''

This case has witnesses. I wonder if a sketch was ever done. There seems to be a better description of his car then the perp himself. Just describes his race and approx age. No description of his outfit, build, hair, other distinguishing features.

I've been thinking this, too. I tried searching for it and couldn't find anything. I'm covering her case at the moment. Usually, there is an E-Fit done.

Was listening to the trace evidence podcast on the St Louis little Jane Doe in the podcast a serial killer named Vernon Brown is mention he would’ve 25 years old at the time of Elizabeth Murder he had a violent history and sexually assaulted and murdered young females. Vernon Brown | Murderpedia, the encyclopedia of murderers

Just a thought but again this could’ve been anybody

Coming back to this case after reading more into it, it’s probably not him but Lester Eubanks had escape from prison eight years prior to Elizabeth Murder and was known to assault young girls in a similar way. I wonder if it was him? I doubt it but it might be something to look at if Eubanks is ever caught.

''According to a press release from the U.S. Marshals, there have been leads placing the killer in both Michigan and California, but there have been no official sightings of him reported.

“Lester Eubanks has had a lot of time on the lam,” said Deputy U.S. Marshal David Siler according to the press release. “Fugitives on the run as long as Eubanks tend to use that time to change their appearance, use aliases, and even start new lives. He literally could be hiding in plain sight. This is why we are asking citizens to be vigilant and contact us with any information they believe will help us apprehend him.”

After the release, Siler told Rolling Stone that leads have also placed him in Florida, Georgia, Alabama and Ohio, but none of those leads have led to the capture of Eubanks.''

We haven't been able to validate anything. Does anyone have any suggestions to offer on where to validate any of the information? We've requested the case files, but it takes weeks since they are on microfiche. Any help is appreciated!
