Authorities have accused a man of leaving jail as part of his work-release program, then robbing and killing an ice cream vendor and returning to his cell after the crime.

Adrian Pedro Escobedo was found guilty of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and sentenced to 25 years in prison.

He has a parole hearing later this year. If he is not granted parole, he is scheduled to be release in 2029.
