The victim died after being struck by an airplane propeller, as the plane landed in a secluded pasture in Goliad County, Texas on March 17, 1986. The unidentified man was hit and fatally injured by a stolen Cessna when the pilot apparently failed to properly recover from a bounced landing and broke a landing gear wheel. Local authorities believe the man's body was then transported about four miles and thrown into the river and the aircraft deliberately burned. The aircraft was reported stolen by it owner on 1/29/86.
Body recovered from San Antonio River. It is believed the decedent was using a flash light to guide a plane onto a caliche road on the Spires Ranch located 14 mi S/SW of Goliad (3 mi N of US HWY 59). It is believed the landing gear (wheels) hit the decedeent (piece of body tissue was found on an area near the wheel). The body was found 300 yds from a bridge located 5 mi from the plane site, in which an empty plane was found burned the previous week.
