Circumstances of Discovery

The victim died after being struck by an airplane propeller, as the plane landed in a secluded pasture in Goliad County, Texas on March 17, 1986. The unidentified man was hit and fatally injured by a stolen Cessna when the pilot apparently failed to properly recover from a bounced landing and broke a landing gear wheel. Local authorities believe the man's body was then transported about four miles and thrown into the river and the aircraft deliberately burned. The aircraft was reported stolen by it owner on 1/29/86.
Body recovered from San Antonio River. It is believed the decedent was using a flash light to guide a plane onto a caliche road on the Spires Ranch located 14 mi S/SW of Goliad (3 mi N of US HWY 59). It is believed the landing gear (wheels) hit the decedeent (piece of body tissue was found on an area near the wheel). The body was found 300 yds from a bridge located 5 mi from the plane site, in which an empty plane was found burned the previous week.

Curious about similarities between doe and MP Patrick Kevin Taylor, some sources list him as having gone missing March 26 1986, previously March 18th and some say 20 February 1986.

  • Age26 years old
    • Height and Weight 5’10, 190 pounds
  • Distinguishing CharacteristicsWhite male. Brown hair, blue eyes. Taylor's hair was shoulder-length at the time of his disappearance, and he wore a mustahce. His nickname is Pat. He has a scar near his right eye.

“Taylor was last seen on February 20, 1986. (Charley project lists this date, Namus lists as March 26th) He was in West Memphis, Arkansas or Memphis, Tennessee at the time of his disappearance, in a Veterans Affairs (VA) hospital. He has never been heard from again and the circumstances surrounding his case are unclear.
Taylor may have been a patient at VA hospitals in Arkansas, Tennessee or Missouri, and he had also expressed an interest in going to Kansas or Texas for work. He is originally from Bethalto, Illinois.”

MP and Doe having scars in different places would put me off, and MP location and time of disappearance appears a bit confusing. Although him wanting to go to Texas for work would align.

Two other cases I was briefly curious about in relation to doe were;

Michael was last known to be in Tampa, Florida around the spring of 1982. Family members reported losing contact after a phone call, and he was never heard from again. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance remain unclear, and few public details have been shared by investigators. Both Tampa and Fort Myers Police Departments have been involved in reviewing the case.

Missing Age 18 Years
Current Age 61 Years

First Name Martin
Middle Name Alan
Last Name Miller
Nickname/Alias --
Sex Male
Race / Ethnicity White / Caucasian
Height 5'-10" - (70 - inches)
Weight 165 - lbs

His circumstances of disappearance has been theorised to be disappearing and starting fresh. Martin has been missing since May 1, 1980. An AVIS rental vehicle used by Martin Miller was returned to Huntsville, Alabama ten days later on 06/04/1980. Mileage on the vehicle (1,700 miles) indicated that vehicle was not driven directly to Alabama from Connecticut. Miller gave a two week notification to his last employer, "McDonald's Restaurant" and told friends he was going to travel to California. Miller left behind two vehicles at his residence, including an almost new $14,000.00 Porsche. He also gave away a $400.00 bicycle to a friend. He removed personal belongings and photos of him from his room before vanishing. Was not officially reported missing until 1999.

What a bizarre case.

What a bizarre case.
Stolen airplane, unidentified man killed in a field on what LE believes is a ranch while holding a flashlight (likely to help the plane land). Body and plane moved and destroyed. Too many criminal links.

Anyone know where the plane was stolen from - area, state?

For reference, Goliad County is outlined below - between San Antonio and Corpus Christi.

Found it - excerpt from larger article, Victoria Advocate (March 28, 1986, pg 28):

Cleburne is about 50 miles SW of Dallas, TX.

Further, the victim was "identified" as Hispanic. US Customs Service suspended investigation into the case because victim's identity was unknown.
