Kidnapping victim still missing

Police are still looking for a San Antonio man who was kidnapped from his front yard at gunpoint last week.

Guillermo Urrieta, 22, was last seen by his family June 4 at about 11 p.m. in the 700 block of Bynum Avenue on the Southwest Side.

Urrieta left his house to drop off a friend, according to a police report.

While he was gone, a witness saw a red car - possibly a Nissan Sentra - drive by slowly "as if they were looking for someone."

When Urrieta returned home, the car backed up and three men got out. One of them pointed a rifle at Urrieta and forced him into the car, the report states.

The car drove away, heading north on Bynum Avenue, according to the report.

The witness told police four Hispanic males were in the car.

After police were called, officers searched the area with the help of a police helicopter, but Urrieta had disappeared, said police spokesman Al Ballew.

Urrieta was arrested three times on minor charges in the early 1990s, county records show. Two charges were dismissed and one resulted in deferred adjudication.

Ballew said Urrieta didn't have an arrest record "that would lead us to believe he was involved in something major."

"There's no motive," Ballew said. "His family doesn't know why these guys took him like this."
