SAPD involved in standoff; man takes hostage

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police and SWAT teams are involved in a standoff with a man, armed with a long gun, who is holding an 18-year-old man hostage inside an apartment complex on Evergreen near McCullough, north of downtown

Gunfire was heard in the vicinity of a standoff north of downtown at about 12:45 p.m. No further details were immediately available.

A bit of an update on the Express-News story a couple minutes ago does not include the "shots fired" info. However....

Police have blocked off McCullough and Main avenues between Park and Cypress to all traffic, and some of the streets are closed.

VIA Transit announced on Twitter that bus routes along McCullough and Evergreen have been detoured because of the standoff.

No one has been evacuated from the area, and nearby schools have been alerted about the situation.
