Newborn baby found dead in back of a garbage truck in NW Harris Co., HCSO says

"An innocent baby doesn't deserve to be in the trash can," one resident said after workers collecting trash found the body Wednesday morning.

''HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Residents of a northwest Harris County subdivision are shaken up after a newborn baby boy was found dead in the back of a garbage truck.

The discovery was made at about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 13200 block of Fountaincrest Court in the Chimney Hill subdivision.

According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, the baby was anywhere from one day old to 30 days old.''

Investigators located the mother, who reportedly told officials that she fainted Sunday when she gave birth after experiencing stomach pain and realized the child was unresponsive when she woke up.

Officials located the child's birth mother, who informed investigators that around Sunday morning, she was suffering from stomach pain and gave birth before fainting. Investigators said once she woke up, she realized the baby was unresponsive and dead.

She reportedly admitted to investigators that she was scared and discarded the newborn in the trash.
