I don't see this UID in Harris County database.

I think if this was an active case, it would be in their database.

The mystery is, we know she was alive when found so if she was deceased, what happened? It's quite eerie.

I don't trust NAMUS.
Too many mistakes! Harris County isn't connecting to the NAMUS link.
I think at one time, almost anyone with an account could put a UID into NAMUS. Now it's limited to LE etc.

Also agencies often don't update NAMUS. We see this time and time again. @iulia is great at this!

She found a ME report for the State Florida with UID's that were ID'd. Some were still in NAMUS.

If shes alive, i think they should just close the case and move on. Its been 25 years.

ETA: Recently there was a missing person added to NAMUS by private citizens.

I heard that once. Now only LE can upload UIDs.

Look at this from a few weeks ago:

Wow, that sort of blew my mind. I had found a lot of NamUs cases suspicious on how little info I could find on them.

Yep, I've added a few MP cases to NAMUS myself. The regional case manager still has to approve them.

Not listed here:
There was an infant who was found in the back of pick up truck at Hobby Airport in May 1989. She was identified after a few weeks and was raised by family, then foster care. She's now a reporter for a local Fox Affiliate and reunited with the police officer who found her.

RSBM

Entering UIDs into NamUs was never allowed for the general public who registered. Even back in the beginning (as UDRS with the link identifyus.org) ME/Coroners and LE had to register as such in order for them to enter their cases. And, of course, UDRS/NamUs staff (including, for instance, Forensic Dentists) could enter them.

I've had a couple of UIDs added to NamUs but I submitted them to the RPS for the state and that person had to go to the ME/Coroner or LE for validation and permission to be entered.

That said, I agree that there are too many mistakes, no matter who entered them. I found several in my neck of the woods and it was no easy task to get them corrected.

Missing Persons is another story. That was always open for all registered users to enter the cases. IMO, it was the private citizens who really helped to get the MP database populated as quickly as it was.

I have personally submitted a few UID cases to doe network. Currently only LE can submit UID cases.
