Carl says the witnesses were shown the body, yes.

IIRK, the use of DNA as a forensic tool was rather sci-fi in 1980, and *probably* not what a trucker at the time would consider would lead back to him... DNA profiling began about 1983-84, and the first conviction based on DNA occurred in 1988 (the Colin Pitchfork case).

im assuming it was for the mess factor.

There's a photo of a girl posted on wcjds Facebook page, but the poster didn't share a name or links, anyone know who she is?
Her lips, especially her top lip and nose are spot on.

Are you talking about the side by side with Tammy Young? If you search this thread there was talk of her a while back.

I actually screenshot a pic someone submitted in a FB comment on WCJD FB. I really thought it was WCJD. But @CarlK90245 wouldve been all over that long before I scrolled & noticed the pic. I'm hunting Tammy Young you mention above & can't find a listing. Where is she listed? I've read this thread since the beginning but do not remember her for some reason..of course the last thread was 200+ pages and I may have missed something or forgotten something among the way.

RSBM

I think this is what you're looking for on this thread. The pic shows up on page 5 (scroll down) and then page 6 starts off saying the name attached to the pic is Tammy Young.

I'm not sure, I'll have to read back. Not heard of her before.

I did some searching for Tammy Young when the photo was brought up. Unfortunately it's such a common name I didn't get anywhere, but what I did find was pretty suggestive and I hope LE took a look into it. Or somebody with an account at a peoplefinder/background check sort of place.

Here's that side by side of WCJD and Tammy Young that was shown around page 5

Wait, is this Tammy Young missing?

That does look like Joyce. I wonder why someone would do a side by side of a murdered ,not missing girl. Sigh.

I'll do some research and see what I can find on tammy young.

I do see the resemblance. The nose and overall face shape resemble each other but the more I look at it, the one thing that makes me think it's not WCJD is her chin isn't as short as WCJD. The jaw/chin throw it off to me.

Was the bag the waitress saw her carrying ever found? I apologize if I missed this information in the thread. It's possible that the pantyhose were hers, but kept in her bag rather than worn under her jeans. If the bag was found, the other items could suggest if the pantyhose were hers (like a skirt or a dress she would've worn them under.)

In my digging around, I came to the conclusion that she wasn't. But as I said it's a common name, and without a birthdate or other information, I don't really have more than a guess.

Chins are hard to depict in recons sometimes because the artist has to compensate for the post mortem slack jaw. If you look at a lot of recons beside the actual MP after identification, the chins are frequently off.

Right, but I wasn't just referring to the recon, I was basing my comparison in chins from her post mortem photo where it's the real WCJD in the photo, not the recon.

Do you have the source where it says she had a bag with her or that the waitress said she had a bag with her and link it? I've never come across that and i've always wondered about if she had a bag.

Yes, but the post mortem is where the slack jaw is the problem. Carl compensated for that in his recon, but it's hard to know where exactly the jaw sits in life.
