I like how people are just throwing out random missing women at this point. This girl is the poster child of unidentified females(jane does) I am sure they have looked over every missing woman from that time period by now.

Agree. I am sure she is none of the suggested missing women (which is shocking, so many women are missing).
I am afraid this sweetheart was either not reported missing or she was reported, but never made it into any modern database. Her name may sit in some archived police file somewhere in some cellar...

Months ago Margaret Press of DNA Doe Project responded to someone on the DDP facebook page who asked if they could take on WCJD & she responded that "someone else is working her case."

So it's not DDP and it doesn't seem to be Barbara Rae-Venter because Carl Koppelman asked her in a facebook group if she was working on her case, among others, and WCJD was not one of the cases she listed. So could be another group or genealogist.

Agree with you with the exception of women who have only recently been added to databases. There are many examples of very old cases which are only now entering databases due to relatives following up with police etc

My opinion only: unless a person is brand new to this in general, everyone is aware of this. It hurts nothing to take another look though, especially among ourselves. We're not tying up anyone's resources by saying "Hey what do you guys think?" or "Has this person been ruled out?" or "Has anyone checked the year book in this town?"

The vast, vast majority of suggestions on this site are wrong, but perhaps something clicks in the discussion and process.

I read what Carl said about Theresa Jones, but is he one hundred percent certain that she was ruled out? I understand about the tattoo, but could the person filling out the report have simply made a mistake? Or could she have had the tattoo removed after she went missing and the ME mistook the removal for injuries sustained in the attack? Because if Theresa isn't WCJD then that poor girl has a mirror image.

There are so many similarities between the two. Theresa is not on the list of exclusions I am looking at, although I suppose that doesn't mean much. What did Carl say?

Edited: One thing that does stand out is Theresa has a slight diastema. She also appears to have a larger nose. I'm not sure if it is the photos/angles, but WCJD has an exceptionally delicate and distinct nose.

He thought that she didn't look much like the Jane Doe. He also mentioned that her sisters looked her up on the Facebook page. I'll try and add the quote.
Regardless, I believe that she could be our Jane Doe and if not then I would prefer it if Namus listed her name in the ruleout section.

I never suggested Theresa as a possible match to WCJD. Her sisters came on the WWWCJD FB page and mentioned her. Before then, she was never on a public listing, and I discovered that her original missing person report was no longer on file. So I helped them file a missing person report with the Brazoria County Sheriff, and I created her NamUs page.

I knew pretty quickly she wasn't WCJD, because of the tattoo and the gap in her teeth, and that she really didn't look that much like WCJD. I was more interested in Theresa as a possible match to one of the two League City "killing fields" Jane Does. (Both have since been identified).

I agree with you. It seems odd given the timeline and location of her disappearance, her age, her height, weight, hair and style, the tattoo on her right shoulder vs a vicious bite mark on WCJD's right shoulder, overall general appearance that she was not ruled out long ago. Could the Chevrolet have been the same car? Some reports list Theresa's car as gray others as green.

Girls who look even less like WCJD, were well into their 20s, and who were not from Texas were considered, so I think you have a validpoint.

If her sister is still around, it would be helpful to know more about the diastema. In the one clear photo it is definitely visible and does seem large enough to be notable. It is possible she wore a retainer and the gap closed. Knowing when that photo was taken in relation to her disappearance would be VERY helpful, IMO. It looks like it was cropped from a family or other group image to me.

It did? Well, it was only meant as an observation.

If the body of a young teen girl was found on Nov 1, 1980, and one with very similar traits disappeared September 1, 1980 from a town an hour and a half away, why wouldn't they take a very close look? Especially if her family came forward years later?

Perhaps more went on behind the scenes when her profile was created, and her family did not want to pursue a match.

Has Melinda Creech ever been considered? She looks similar and would have been 14 in 1980.

Did some looking around the internet. Apparently “WCJD has both mtDNA and nDNA available. If a missing person has DNA available, it automatically rules them out as being her.” “Melinda Karen Creech: Her DNA and dentals are available”. So using that logic, she would have automatically been ruled out. But I must say she does look similar in some of those photos.
