What if her sighting at the diner was not her? What if she was not from Aransas Pass/Rockport but somewhere else?
I doubt she was local, though.

Random thought here, so it may not make a lot of sense, just throwing it out there... perhaps the monster that did this was a teenage boy with a lot of rage that happened upon her maybe walking alone.

I might be confusing cases, but I thought someone posted about a group of other somewhat similar murders in the general vicinity not too far back threadwise?

I thought she fit in with the timeline of the Texas Killing Fields, and was also found off of I-45 (albeit a couple of hours away or so)

Going to assume Jackie Boyer was ruled out long ago too? She shared some similarities, and is not on the list above, but since everyone keeps saying WCJD is probably not in any database....

I don't show Jackie is ruled out for WCJD in NamUs.
Doe Network states she doesn't have DNA on file, however, her case was updated with them over 2 years ago and it may have since changed. Both WCJD & Jackie have dental records available, so a comparison could have been made previously but not documented anywhere.

There was one other UID I was curious about found in LA in 1980.

Has Jackie been ruled out as a match for “Kay” Doe, LA August 1980?

Has Jackie been ruled out as a match for “Kay” Doe, LA August 1980?

Not that I can tell. The height is waaay off though - Jackie was 4'11-5'0, Doe was 5'5-5'8. As well as the hair colour - Jackie was blonde, Doe was auburn/brunette. You can submit it if you feel strongly about the match, though I'd be hesitant to due to those differences.

A lot of things such as hair color and height are very subjective when you are performing an autopsy. One person may call strawberry blonde hair auburn etc. especially given the condition of her remains, she is worth considering for rule out

While reading about some related cases, I wondered if the Gallegos were ever considered as possible suspects in this case? I know they killed a young couple in California the evening of November 1st, but depending on the exact time WCJD died on Halloween, it would be possible.

The Gallegos driving a blue Oldsmobile and WCJD possibly being seen getting into a blue car, and the fact that Gerald Gallego often beat victims with blunt objects caught my attention. He did usually shoot them, so there's that. WCJD seems like she would have been their type though.

Anyway, I was just curious if this has ever been discussed?

Their noses from the front are identical
Chins are the same: both are straight instead of pointy
Face shape is the same, both quite rounded.
Teeth and smile are so similar when comparing Kathy to the reconstruction drawing
Eyebrows are similar: if you look closely, both girls have straight eyebrows above the eyes, then the end slopes quite far down.
Even the eye shape and colour is similar

I honestly think it’s too coincidental that “Kathy”, a girl who matches WCJD’s age range and appearance, was a runaway from Texas looking for someone in prison in the same year that WCJD was murdered.

Personally, aside from genetic genealogy, I believe the most useful thing we can do is to identify the girl in the motel photo. too many things point to her being WCJD.

Has Brenda Crowley missing from NY 1980 been looked at? Not a ton of pictures out there of Brenda but I found one where she seemed to have the long eyebrows like WCJD.

"Kathy's" eyebrows also seem to get thicker towards the ends, just like WCJD's, and that's pretty unique. It seems almost too unique to be a coincidence.

I've never seen the photo of "Kathy" with the layered hairstyle before, only the one with her hair pulled back. Where is it from? I think it is a stronger resemblance, facial structure-wise.

I think that photo is an overlay, we have Kathy's photo with her hair pulled back and over it is the layered haistyle.

Has Brenda Crowley missing from NY 1980 been looked at? Not a ton of pictures out there of Brenda but I found one where she seemed to have the long eyebrows like WCJD.

Crowley fractured her arm in childhood and she has a scar on her nose. These are things not mentioned by any sources regarding Walker County Jane Doe. Furthermore, Crowley has crowded teeth, whereas WCJD's teeth have been described as "perfectly aligned". WCJD also had fillings; Crowley did not, as far as I can tell.
