That’s where I got the information
Reading hasn't been my strong suit lately. The link was posted back in thread 2, and I just failed to recognize it was the same article. Thank you!

Yeah I know we discussed her not having a bag for a while. I don’t know how we didn’t see this article. It’s weird that they don’t have it in any of the other descriptions of her clothing.

I agree! It probably won’t help with identification, but it is odd that it’s not mentioned anywhere else. I had forgotten how detailed that article was. Certainly one of the better ones out there.

Took me a minute, but I found it! It would have drove me crazy! :D

Cold case | Port Aransas South Jetty
That is the article with the dreadful picture and the details we didn't hear from anywhere else.
The picture appears to be a postmortem photograph with eyes drawn in, not-too-professionally. I just noticed the very thin line of the necklace is visible, maybe even a little bit of the pendant, which makes me wonder if there is a photo somewhere that shows the entire pendant.

Supposedly there are a few photos of the scene. I don’t know at what point they lost the necklace but if they have a photo it doesn’t appear to be online. The shoes are also missing, if I remember correctly.

Has anyone had success finding info on Tammy Young from the 1980 Rockport yearbook?

  • #4,867
Isn't Tammy the reason the old thread got into trouble for sleuthing teenage girls from 1980 who were not reported missing? We should be careful.

I have to address something. Do you remember that nightwind777 guy? Where are the promised facts and revelations? 40 years... it hurts.

That Nightwind blog did have an update a couple of days ago (November 1) if anyone here is following it. There is some info about this case that you probably won't see anywhere else. You can decide for yourself whether or not it is relevant.

Wow, he doesn’t hold back on how he feels about the Sheriff and his associates, definitely some bad blood there. I probably wouldn’t have put their pictures up and called them what he did, but I do think that they either do not care about solving the case and finding WCJD’s identity or they want to solve it all by themselves as they are too proud to request any outside help from Webslueths, Othram, DNA Doe Project etc, etc. MOO.

I've mentioned this a few times but someone asked DDP if they would take WCJD's case and the founder of DDP responded "someone else has her case." So it does appear that genetic genealogy is being attempted; no word on which genealogist/group was enlisted though.

No idea about the old thread. I know there are still links to the posts when you search. I know they share the Kathy photo all over fb.

I doubt WCJD was a teenage prostitute or was selling sex or indeed had been on the road for long.

That guy is such a wacko on other matters it was impossible to read anything he wrote about this case

Привет! (Hello!)

I am new to this thread and I have started getting interested in unknown bodies. I am a current historian and I'll see if I can help here. I noticed how people talking about the 1980s on here and what her time may have been like. Just remember it was 1980, barely the start of the 1980s. I would guess this girl was likely from South Texas for the following reasons (sorry for any inaccuracies):
  1. Likelihood of an accent; I don't think she would've had an unaccented voice, as it would've alerted the witnesses. However, it is possible she did not have an accent and the witnesses downplayed it.
  2. Origin; The girl alleged to be this young lady claimed to be from Aransas Port or Rockport, which are apart of Southern Texas. I don't believe she would have lied about being from those areas.
That is all I have had time for recently, but I hope to contribute more in the future. Also, if anyone could send me some newspaper articles and links regarding this girl, I would appreciate it! :)

This is the first article that clearly asserts the victim was going to visit her *boyfriend* in prison. This is also the first time I am picking up that she got in an old station wagon with three men. Lots in this article...
That rendering is awful and feels disrespectful, but if it helps I suppose it’s worth it.

Hmmm... from Cold case | Port Aransas South Jetty

"“She told the waitress she was going to see her boyfriend at Ellis,"

Is it possible WCJD's boyfriend was an employee at Ellis and not an inmate?

I believe it *was* a boyfriend. I'm sure he didn't acknowledge knowing her as there might be statutory rape associated with that admission. The answer to this girls ID is in that prison population. IWT it would be somewhat easy to narrow that down to those in a certain age group?
The answer is there. Of course, for all we know he may be deceased or still incarcerated for other crimes.

Taking this a step further. Clearly, this was her first time to the prison. That leads me to believe her boyfriend was a fairly new resident. That should further narrow down the inmate association. Really, this seems so solvable!

I like the boyfriend theory...but I wonder why, if true, he hasn't come forward now to ID her?

If he is a felon, he likely doesn't want the attention, or maybe he just didn't care enough?
