Lina Khil’s family to hire private investigator to pursue new leads in her disappearance

In a Monday news conference, Pamela Allen, an advocate for the family, said that there were several details that police had not told them in the years following Lina’s disappearance.

In February 2024, the family found out via a social media influencer that police were investigating another potential lead.

The tip would lead to SAPD digging behind the apartment complexes on I-10 and Wurzbach for two days. They ultimately said the tip was “not credible.”

According to Allen, the tip was from an inmate on the U.S. Marshall’s Most Wanted List in 2019, who also lived in the same apartment complex as Lina’s family at the time she disappeared.

“Yet, (during the investigation) he did not have his apartment searched,” Allen said.

Allen said the inmate’s wife noticed something “wasn’t right” about her husband the day Lina disappeared.

Four years after 3-year-old Lina Sardar Khil vanished from a northwest-side apartment complex, her family and supporters gathered Saturday evening to honor her and renew calls for answers in a case that remains unsolved.

At Saturday’s observance, Lina’s father, Riaz, spoke briefly, thanking the community for continued support and asking for prayers as the family continues to hope for answers.

According to Allen, the man lived at the same apartment complex when Lina disappeared, has a past history of child sexual abuse charges, and is currently in jail.

Police told the family there are no other persons of interest at this time.

Allen said police informed the family that the case is now classified as “pending.”

If he is the guilty one, I wouldn't be opposed to this man being offered some kind of privilege in prison in return for Lina's actual recovery. JMO.

Wow! That's quite the breakthrough - I think for all intents and purposes, it seems that LE strongly believes that this guy is good for it, or they wouldn't have revealed all of this to Lina's father. For me, he ticks all the boxes - lived in the complex, inserted himself into the investigation, and a sex offender background? Very similar to the perps for many of these types of crimes.

It's just so heartbreaking that this family who had already been through so much has to endure this too.

Absolutely. I’d give him the privilege of choosing his method of exit, and move him to the front of the line.
