Linda Wilhite's Family Wants Answers on the One Year Anniversary of Her Disappearance
Lubbock Police Department using all possible resources to continue to search for 67-year-old Linda Wilhite's body on the one year anniversary of her disappearance.

"This is an unusual type case because we don't have a body, like one would think of when you have a normal homicide investigation," LPD's Sergeant Marcus Wall said.

Wall is the supervisor for this homicide investigation and said cases like this are rare but still happen.

"When you hear that somebody is missing and then you hear that someone is found you keep thinking maybe it's good news," Lonnie Wilhite said. His sister, Linda Wilhite went missing on August 16, 2016.

"When I went down there this time the front door was closed and it was locked," Wilhite said. "That's why I got concerned and I called my cousin to see if she could get ahold of her. She tried and she couldn't either."

The next day Linda was reported missing. When Lubbock Police searched her home, documents state blood was found in various places of the house.

Her son, 45-year-old Kody Climber, was arrested a month later and indicted for her murder. However, her body is still missing.

Her son is still an inmate in the Lubbock jail. Her body has not been found and I could find nothing about a plea deal or a trial date.

A lot of information in this article from May 2019

Man sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his mother

Just two days before Mother’s Day, a Lubbock man pleaded guilty to murdering his mother in August of 2016.

Jury selection began on Monday for 48-year-old Kody Climer, accused of killing 67-year-old Linda Wilhite, whose body was never found.

On Tuesday, Climer stood before the court and said, “I am not guilty.”

The defense’s opening statement centered around bloody fingerprints found at the crime scene that had allegedly never been processed by police.

One of Climer’s attorneys told jurors that police did not follow the evidence.

On Wednesday, the judge called for a recess until Monday morning.

Climer’s trial was expected to resume Monday morning, but during a status hearing on Friday, Climer pleaded guilty to Wilhite’s murder.

He was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole, the maximum sentence.

Stanek said while Climer did plead guilty to murder, he gave no indication as to where Wilhite’s body is.

“It wouldn’t be fair for a defendant to get a benefit for being smart enough to hide a body and then us not being able to prosecute him. The law supports the fact that if we can present a case to a jury beyond a reasonable doubt, and they believe a victim is dead based on blood evidence, lack of financial activity, the health of the victim, lack of cell phone activity, witness statements, those types of things, we are able to prove death in other ways other than being legally declared dead, especially when you don’t have a body,” Stanek said.
