Michael was 31 years old when he was last seen alive in Llano, Texas, on February 3rd, 2016. Months later in September of 2016, media put out reports that Michael is wanted for using a nail gun to rob the J&S Food Mart gas station and convenience store in Llano on February 3rd, 2016 at approximately 6:55 pm. He is seen in surveillance video wearing a white bandana over his mouth and a blue hoodie walking behind the service counter and putting the nail gun to a female employee's head. Authorities believe he may have also had a firearm tucked in the back waistband of his pants and he made off with the contents of the cash register. A crimestopper tip alerted police to an abandoned vehicle in Burnet County, Texas that contained $100 cash and a blue hoodie behind the driver's seat. Police believe this is the same hoodie worn by Michael in the robbery.

A rancher in Llano found remains in 2018 that Michael's family believes may belong to him. Authorities believe Michael is evading justice after robbing the convenience store while his family reports that he would not remain out of contact with his 5 children this long. The officers involved in this case could not comment as they were all suspended for official oppression in a separate case. Michael was working in construction at the time of his disappearance and has a lengthy criminal history. He is known to abuse drugs and is believed by authorities to be dangerous. Michael remains missing.
