". . .According to her a letter from her mother, Jennifer, Misty went missing on April 19. Though she’s 17, she has the “mindset of a 13-year-old” and is mentally disabled, being bipolar, schizophrenic, has ADHD and a sleeping disorder. . . "

". . .As she did not take her medication with her when she was last seen, she may be off her meds and need immediate medical attention when found. . ."

Misty has possibly been without her medication for 5 months. I hope that Misty will get in touch with her family soon.

Sheez....the Bring Misty Home FB page reported that Misty's sister, who had been out searching for Misty on 10/15, went missing as well. She is safe at home now but Misty is still missing. I hope this leads to good news for Misty soon. I'm praying for their family.

Older case. Still nothing about Misty being found but it looks like her sister went missing again in March 2021 after coming home the last time! What in the world? Do you think they are together somewhere?

I don't know what to think. This case has me totally confused. In the beginning, I thought Misty left voluntarily due to her relationship w/ certain family members. I figured she'd stay gone until her 18th birthday, but November as well as Christmas and other major holidays have come and gone w/o word from her. Now, I'm worried...really worried. I wish Misty would make contact if she can.

Her sister's repeated disappearances concern me as well. I don't think she's running to Misty though. It seems a teen girl would have a hard time keeping the secret that she's been with her sister, especially given Misty is now a legal adult. Then again, that could be why she'd keep quiet. As I said, I'm not sure what to think. My heart hopes they're both safe and sound living happily with someone who genuinely cares for them. Maybe we'll get an update after Misty's sister's 18th b-day.

That website seems to indicate they're both still missing. That makes me wonder if there is something going on at home. The sister will probably show up, as in the past she has, but I agree, I don't think she's with Misty. Unfortunately if Misty is alive with her illnesses the best place to find her is in homeless camps.

Thanks @lindamichelle1 for bringing this case to our attention.

Apparently Misty has been missing for nearly two years. I don't believe there's been any contact with her or sighting of her since she left home on April 19, 2020. Lack of contact in that length of a time is usually not a good indicator.

If I understand this correctly, Misty is "bipolar, schizophrenic, has ADHD, and a sleeping disorder", and didn't take any medication with her when she left. Definately major MH issues involved in this case, so logic may not be of much assistance.

Misty's family situation is confusing as well. I can't see FB posts but from apparently Misty's sister was also missing for a period of time. I'm not clear if she disappeared a second time or whether she is now at home. Very confusing situation.

Have there been any updates on Misty's case?

For five years, the family of Misty Lynn McGinn has waited for answers. The 17-year-old girl disappeared in 2020. Now, a new digital billboard campaign across Dallas-Fort Worth is renewing hope in the search for the missing girl.

As part of National Missing Children’s Day, Clear Channel Outdoor held a news conference Friday morning in partnership with the Texas Center for the Missing and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
