A mother walked in to a cell phone store with her two sons, ages 2 and 4, around 11 a.m. yesterday, looking for somewhere to rest. "She said her husband kicked her out, and last night, her neighbor kicked her out, too. So that's why she was on the street this morning," the store manager said.

The children were tired and crying, and the mother didn't know what to do, he added. "She said, 'you want to take care of my kids?'" the manager recalled. The manager and a customer gave the children food and he called police for help. By the time an officer arrived, the mother had already left. The boys were crying. She left behind a bag with her driver's license inside.

Oh god. If that story that she gave them is true, this mother needs some major help to get back on track.

She didn't abandon her children to be alone, she made sure they were with people. I wonder if she had some kind of break down when she left?

What a sad story. I am so thankful she loved her children enough to at least make sure they were safe before she left. That should be taken into consideration when they find her (I pray they do). I may be wrong, but it looked like she could have been pregnant? I hope she is safe and those little ones have a glorious, happy ending....somehow.

I hope so too.

I'm wondering what kind of man kicks out a woman with two little children? And then her neighbor too?

I think she has done the safest thing for her children. I hope they are warm, safe and secure tonight. Worried about Mum though :(

The mother has been identified only as Ashley. Former neighbors of Ashley's in Northwest Houston were absolutely shocked to find out about what happened and said that her fully furnished three-bedroom apartment was always kept clean. They also said that she was known to be a good parent. The authorities are looking for Ashley to find out what the motive for abandoning her sons is. It is still not clear if she will face any charges.
