GARLAND (WBAP/KLIF News ) – A Dallas grand jury indicted a North Texas teen who was the subject of an Amber Alert in September on a capital murder charge this week.

Police arrested 17-year-old Natalie Navarro for the fatal shooting of 21-year-old Aurturo Pena during an alleged online robbery plot.

According to the indictment, Navarro admitted to allegedly attempting to rob Pena but claims Martinez shot him.

Martinez is still on the run.

More than a year later, Navarro, now 19, pleaded guilty to murder in the death of 21-year-old Arturo Peña and a judge sentenced her to 40 years in prison with 485 days credit for time served, according to court records.

Cops in Texas first thought Natalie Navarro, then 17, was the victim of a kidnapping after they found a man shot to death in August 2023 in Garland. But police learned she was no victim but a suspect.
