This young man went missing in June of 2017 from Orange, TX. Human remains were found in a shallow grave in Pinehurst, TX in October of 2017. Remains were identified as Nathaniel Allen Anderson, 22 on January 25, 2018.

It has been confirmed that the remains are that of 22-year-old Nathaniel Allen Anderson had been reported missing in early June of 2017.

After and exhaustive investigation into Anderson's whereabouts, the Orange County Sheriff's Office received information that led them to the general area of 2600 MacArthur, where the remains were eventually uncovered. The Sheriff's office was assisted by the Pinehurst Police Department, the Texas Rangers, The Jefferson County Regional Crime Lab, and the Sam Houston Stat University Anthropology Department and staff.

The remains, which were mostly skeletal, were found on October 17, 2017 in a shallow grave and excavated over a 2-day period. The remains were examined by the SHSU Anthropology staff and were identified as Anderson's by a Forensic Odontologist.

Anderson had been living in Orange when he was reported missing. Orange County Detectives have questioned several persons of interest and continue to investigate the event surrounding the death of Anderson.

"Mike describes his son as smart and talkative, and a great debater. Nathaniel was a part of the debate team at Lamar State College Orange. And even though Nathaniel was living with Asperger’s, his father says he was always surrounded by friends."

A suspect in the death of an Southeast texas man was extrasdicted to the Orange County Jail on Thursday.

Samed Rafiq, 23, was arrested in Farmingdale, New York and charged with murder of Nathaniel Anderson on May 1. Police say Kevin Michael Vanhorne, 32, surrendered to Orange County officials on a charge of tampering with evidence on April 27, which was three days after the men were indicted.
