Following ews video is with his daughter. She says that Colonial Gardens waited 7 hours to report him missing. She believes that he might think that he is still at home in New Mexico.

***************
Now with dementia, Laurel said her dad’s light shines even brighter.

“He’s so friendly and kind. I mean, he just wants to give everyone a hug,” she said.

She also worries that’s what makes him vulnerable.

Austin Police said the 76-year-old was last seen around 4 p.m. Sunday. They said he was reported missing early Monday morning.

*******************
They’ve posted flyers across town and have been looking in parks and restaurants up to Georgetown, she said.

“Going into places that are open 24 hours a day, so any gas station, you know, H-E-B, McDonald’s, any place… where he might, you know, assuming he’s hungry that he could get food and water,” Laurel explained.

She thinks Paull might be trying to get back to Albuquerque, New Mexico, his home of more than 30 years.

*****************
Austin Police told KXAN News it is working with the Travis County Search and Rescue Team to continue to search the area where Paull was last seen, but so far, leads have not yielded any results.

It said it is also working with the Albuquerque Police Department.

*******************
Laurel said she moved her dad into Colonial Gardens Austin in May so she could be closer to him.

“He just couldn’t take care of himself and with a full-time job, I couldn’t keep, you know, 24-hour watch on him and give him the care that he needed,” she said. “And so we really trusted this memory care facility to keep an eye on him.”

******************
Colonial Gardens manager Alan Boss told KXAN’s Tahera Rahman he did not want to go on camera but said the facility is working with local and state agencies to find Paull.

Bass said he couldn’t comment on how Paull may have gotten out of this facility, only saying they have visitors and staff who have to enter and exit the building.

*****************
Tiffany Young, a spokesperson for Texas Health and Human Services, said the agency is conducting an active, on-site investigation into whether the facility violated any health or safety regulations.

******************
Laurel said her dad also goes by the nickname “Pepper” and will respond to that.

“If you call out his name, use Pepper as well, because he will answer to one of those,” she explained.

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Friday’s forecast and cold front adds urgency to the search for a veteran missing since Sunday.

******************
t’s changed Laurel Patterson’s routine this week; she’s been out every day, armed with flyers and flanked by friends, searching for her dad.

After issuing a call for more help with KXAN on Thursday, she said about 20 people showed up to help Friday morning.

****************
“We’ve gotten a few tips in last night saying that he might have taken a bus down to South Park Meadows and Manchaca, like Ben White area. So, we’ve been down here this morning as well,” Patterson said.

She thinks Paull may have joined some food distribution lines or gone to homeless encampments for shelter.

*********************
Brandon Goering, a search technician with Texas Search and Rescue, said the weather heightens the urgency of a situation like this.

“Right off the bat with the cognitive impairment, there is an emergency at hand. And then with the changing weather, with any of these other factors, it becomes increasingly important to respond quickly and effectively,” he said.

He said TEXSAR, an all-volunteer group, only deploys when asked by law enforcement and so far, they haven’t been called for Patterson’s search.

Austin Police said they’re working with the Travis County Search and Rescue Team.

**********************
Patterson is finding hope in gaining ground, and numbers.

“Just from homeless people all the way to store owners to people that I’ve worked with, complete strangers — everyone has just really jumped in to help and it’s… restored faith… in community,” Patterson said.

Very sad news :(

AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department (APD) is investigating after a dead body was discovered near MoPac Expressway and Parmer Lane on Wednesday.

In a press conference later in the afternoon, police confirmed that they believe the body belongs to missing man Paull Patterson, the 76-year-old behind an Austin-area Silver Alert.

The body was discovered on the 12600 block of N. MoPac southbound. According to police, it was located just over a half mile away from the Colonial Gardens memory care facility where Patterson was being treated.

The body was located by a citizen who then called 911. The area where he was found was only feet away from an area where officers had previously searched, police noted on Wednesday, leading officials to believe Patterson was mobile at the time.

Article continues at link.

Full press conference also at link.

The body found has been positively identified as Paull.

I think that the memory care center will be in big trouble. Not only did they wait seven hours to notify police he was missing, this article says that he followed a staff member out the door and it wasn't known which direction he walked, because the outside cameras at the facility were not working.
