A former high-ranking Boy Scouts of America official has been charged with possession and distribution of child .

Douglas Sovereign Smith Jr., 61, who as program director coordinated scouting programs with schools and churches, was accused of receiving images over the Internet in February of children engaging in oral sex, intercourse and other sexually explicit conduct. The charges were filed by federal prosecutors March 21.

I saw this on the news today and I felt ill Imagine what access he had to boys ~ figures the Church is in there too - haven for pedophiles IMO

Hopefully his arrest will bring down a few more pervs.

In the meantime how many boys are out there affected by what was done to the, what they were shown or participated in -no wonder there are so many screwed young men out there today.

I was just brining this info over. Here's a snippet from the Dallas Morning News:

Douglas S. Smith Investigators allege that Douglas Sovereign Smith Jr., 61, traded several computer images "of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct," according to the indictment from the U.S. District Attorney’s Office in Fort Worth.

Smith, reached Tuesday at his home in Colleyville, referred all questions to his attorney, Jack Strickland, who said: "This is a good man and I would hate to see the entirety of his life and the good things he's done defined by one incident. He is not taking this well."

An arraignment is set for Wednesday morning at 9 a.m., according to court documents.

Just my little ol opinion here, but maybe if the BoyScouts of America didn't waste so much time and energy trying to lock homosexuals out of the Scouts, they could focus on trying to keep out the child molesters. :furious: :furious: :furious:

“This is a man who, for his entire life, has been a good man,” said Mr. Smith’s attorney, Jack Strickland. “He was a good family man. He was a good representative for the Boy Scouts. I would hate for his entire life to be judged by one stupid act.”

Mr. Strickland said Mr. Smith became involved in “by accident.” Although he initially rejected an offer to receive the sexually explicit material about four years ago, he later agreed and made the mistake of sending the images to others, Mr. Strickland said.

“I think he does acknowledge that he has a problem,” Mr. Strickland said. “He’s got a problem in viewing, receiving and then passing on this material.”

When he is sentenced July 12, Mr. Smith faces five to 20 years in prison and may be required to pay a fine of up to $250,000.

A forensic examination of the man’s computers revealed multiple e-mails containing child . Among the addresses found was one from Mr. Smith’s home account, according to documents.

On Feb. 22, 2005, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement bureau agents seized Mr. Smith’s two computers and several computers disks revealing 520 images of male child , including sexually explicit depictions of boys under the age of 12, the documents said.

Mr. Helmer said Smith was sharing the pictures with the German contact as well as other recipients. He noted that it is common among pornographers to exchanges images in the hope that they’ll receive more in return.
