Human remains found in Robstown near U.S. Highway 77

About 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, a man walked into the police station in Robstown and said he had found what he believed to be human skeletal remains, police said.

Police responded to the area — just off U.S. Highway 77 south, near County Road 36 — and found bones under a small bridge off the roadway. They are unsure if the bones belong to a man or woman, as only portions of the torso and upper body were discovered, police said.

The bridge is a known gathering place for transients or homeless people, but it was unclear if the remains belonged to such an individual, police said.

The Robstown Police Department and Texas Rangers are investigating after skeletal remains were found just south of Robstown.

Around 5:00 this morning, a man walked into the police department to report that he had found a body under a bridge off of Highway 77 and County Road 36.

When police arrived, they found bones scattered throughout the area.

They are unsure if the bones belong to a man or woman, but do know that they are human remains.
Law enforcement is currently working to identify the subject, as well as determine what scattered the remains.
