Our American law enforcement system enables its officers to abuse their power and harass the citizenry in ways both petty and outright barbaric. Here’s a particularly cruel example, from down in San Antonio: a cop was fired this week after he fed a homeless man a **** sandwich. I do not use “**** sandwich” metaphorically. According to a delicately worded report from the San Antonio Express-News, “the officer reportedly placed fecal matter between two pieces of bread and fed it to a homeless person.”

SAPD: Officer tried to feed feces sandwich to homeless man

Officer Matthew Luckhurst was a 5-year veteran of the force at the time of the incident, which took place in May.

In a statement released Friday, Chief William McManus said that Luckhurst bragged to a fellow officer about placing the feces in a sandwich and placing it in a Styrofoam container next to a sleeping homeless man. In July, an officer reported the incident to internal affairs.
