He received the 10 year maximum for the tampering charges. Sounds like his girlfriend also had a hearing on Friday.

Sheryia Grant, of Kilgore, was reported missing in August of 2016. Two people were convicted on charges of tampering with physical evidence related to that case.

One of those convicted, Allen Lamont Sutton Junior, is back in the Gregg County Jail on a bench warrant. Sutton has filed an appeal to overturn his conviction.

Laneshia Young is serving an 8-year sentence out of Rusk County for tampering with physical evidence with intent to impair a missing persons investigation.

She was sentenced this past July.

The offense date on record for that incident is August 19, 2016, the day Sheryia Grant was reported missing

Two people charged with capital murder, accused of killing, burning Sheryia Grant in 2016

A grand jury indicted Allen Lamont Sutton Jr., 33, of Kilgore, and Laneshia Lashae Young, 29, of Overton, on charges of capital murder of multiple persons in the disappearance and death of Sheryia Grant, 20, who was eight months pregnant when she was reported missing in August 2016. Her body has never been found.

Pretty clever how they were kept in jail on lesser charges until enough evidence could be found for capital murder charges. Sheryia and her baby both being murdered is enough for a death sentence and these two or so deserving of the death penalty. Sadly, it sounds like Sheryia was alive and bleeding when put in the trunk of the car. It makes me sad to think how she suffered.

So glad that Sheryia will finally get justice. This is enough for a death sentence in Texas and I hope they get it.

Allen Lamont Sutton Jr., Laneshia Lashae Young and Edward Brager are all charged with capital murder in connection with the disappearance and death of Sheriya Grant, 20, who was eight months pregnant in 2016. Grant's body has never been found.

In court, the state also announced they will be seeking the death penalty for Young's capital murder charge.

If found guilty of capital murder, a person faces life in prison without parole or the death penalty. Announcements regarding if Sutton or Brager will be up for the death penalty haven't been made yet.

According to the Kilgore Police Department, the Texas Attorney General’s office has adopted the case and will handle the upcoming prosecution. Trial dates for Sutton, Young and Brager are February, September and August in 2025, respectively.
