TX - Southern University; 6 shot and wounded in drive~by

TSU spokeswoman Eva Pickens tells the Houston Chronicle at least three people were shot at the event hosted by Houston City Council member Peter Brown, who is running for mayor. Pickens says it's unclear if any students were injured and there was no immediate word on conditions.

One of the victims is a student at TSU, said Eva Pickens, who is a spokeswoman for the university. She said the incident happened on the east side of the campus, near the parking garage. The spokeswoman conformed that a total of six people had been shot. All six were in serious but stable condition and their injuries are not life-threatening. Pickens added to say that no lockdown was ordered following the shootings, but police will remain on the scene for most of the night.

Because the incident involved the campus, the TSU police department is leading the investigation and is being assisted by the Houston Police Department. Officials believe that multiple weapons were used in the shooting and that the suspects are part of a gang. No arrests had been made as of late Wednesday evening.

There were multiple shootings scenes between 8pm and 9pm The first shooting happened in the parking lot of the TSU stadium on campus. The others were nearby, just off campus on Tierwester between Cleburne and Alabama.
Witnesses told police that one car drove by and opened fire on the parking lot where a popular Houston rapper was promoting community service and voter registration, TSU spokeswoman Eva Pickens said.
TSU officials believe the shootings are gang-related, involving gangs from Missouri City and Fresno. HPD has now taken over the investigation.

What is up Houston? Gang shootings, pedophile doctor, and the doctor's office raid per the Michael Jackson case. I found this story while looking up information on the 69 year old orthopedic surgeon... sheesh! These six people are so very lucky!

The rapper who helped organize a community event at Texas Southern University said the shooters who injured six people there are "cowards."

The victims were shot on campus following a concert by the rapper Trae Tha Truth, school officials said.

"All the people out here with their kids -- they had babies in the show," said a witness. "I saw a mother running with her baby -- pushing her stroller."

"A man out here got shot on his porch. An innocent bystander on his porch."

Peter Brown's website (host of the event); he is running for Mayor of Houston so this was a pretty big gig for Tra tha truth I do believe.... (a 'rock the vote' sorta thing to get people out to register to vote)

Aside thought and speculation only... I wonder if some gang had it in for TTT.. the first shooting was in the parking lot by the concert site and than continued as the car fled that initial scene.
