Did they ever identify the murdered female?

Yes, the victim was identified as Stacie Lee Ann Lutz Anderson, wife of the suspect Dennis Ray Anderson. Stacie was last seen in 1999, but was never reported missing.

She was ID'd based on DNA taken from her deceased twin sister (who was the victim of an unsolved homicide that occurred in 1990).

Thank you for answering. Very sad story. He looked like a real creepy old man. Poor lady can now have a decent burial instead of spending eternity in a 55 gallon drum.

this illustrates a fundamental problem when we try to match UIDs to missing persons. where someone is murdered by a family insider who is in the best, and sometimes only position to report them missing, then we have an entire class of people left out of the pool of missing persons.

I would think this usually applies to children and not adults.

Victim identified as Anderson's wife:

It took a two-decades-old unsolved murder of a Houston woman to unravel the mysterious slaying of her twin sister, Stacie Lee Ann Lutz Anderson, whose skeletal remains were identified last week after being kept in a barrel for more than 10 years, homicide detectives said Tuesday.

Stacie vanished in late 1999 at age 30, two years after she had married a man 23 years older than her. Her husband, Dennis Ray Anderson — a convicted murderer already paroled from a Texas prison — never reported his wife missing.

Apparenty Anderson left a suicide note with the information, and the victim's identity was confirmed by DNA comparison with her twin sister, who was also a murder victim in the 1990's.

Geez that's so sad-twin sisters, both murdered-one was never reported missing by anyone and the other no one can recall either the place or date of her death :(

I had to wonder whether Anderson was the one who murdered her, too. But I couldn't find anything about her case.

Yeah that was my first thought too.
